I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been a CNA for a little over 10yrs now. I started off helping to care for my great grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimers Disease, 15yrs ago and i have been doing it every since. I love being able to help others out and that includes both my patients and their families. I've learned that doing the smallest things for people can make their whole day, sometimes their whole life, better. I am the proud daughter of a WWII Navy Veteran who was an amazing father, husband, uncle, and friend to many. He taught me to have respect for my elders and to give back in any way possible to a generation who gave so much of themselves for us all. I spent several years helping to care for my mother who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I later became a daily companion for 2 years to my mother-in-law, who suffered from cancer and dementia. I was present when both passed away. For the past 12 years, I have provided companionship and care to many elderly folks, right in their (or a loved one's) home. Getting to know my new friends is a priority, and engaging in meaningful conversation which stimulates the mind is an essential part of what I do. Caregiving has a been family tradition past down from my parents . Both of my parents were caregivers in their professions. They both work in the hospital as CNA's and they started there personal care business due to the multiple request of discharging patients that needed care at home. Growing up in this environment exposed me to profession of caregiving. I eventually began working for them as a teenager in high school as a homemaker and companion. After graduated from high school and some college I too Be came certified as a nurse assistant. I was immediately satisfied with the enjoyment brought about by assisting clients in performing daily activities of living. In home support for elderly and developmental disabled individuals had became a passion of mine of the years. I have 22 years of experience as a caregiver.
