Hello, My name is Benta Russell. I began my personal-care career with Synod Residential Service, in August 2013. I have always done personal-care work since I was a young girl. Growing up in Kenya, it was my responsibility to care for my family's elderly. Every day I would take care of my grandparents by fetching them water from the river, cooking their meals. I also did their laundry, cleaned their dishes, and house. One of the many things I have learned throughout the years is that it is very important to be patient and understanding when providing aid to an individual. All the people I have helped have had different strengths and weaknesses, and as the personal-aide, it was my responsibility to understand this in order to adapt to the individual's needs. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is developing a relationship with the client. As the relationship grows it becomes more than a job and is like finding a new friend. This is important to me because it makes the work that much more enjoyable for both the client and myself. My greatest achievement so far was getting my degree from Washtenaw Community College. There were many days and nights when I wanted to throw my textbooks in the garbage and walk away from school, but I didn't do that. I stuck it through to the end and am very proud to have earned my degree.

Upon my recent move to Michigan I decided to look for work there are many choices but, While in St. Louis I began to reach out in my neighborhood to seniors I was the block captain. Once I went to Caring Partners and had a few assignments I fell in love with working with Seniors. In 1994 I took care of my grandfather which I enjoyed. My goal is to take care of Seniors I wake up each day thankful and want to serve the best that I can. Seniors have pride and dignity and should not be treated with the upmost respect. I love my mother and thank God for her daily. Enjoy everyday living tomorrow is not promised .
Hi , My Passion is keeping your loved one healthy and happy and out of long term care, I began this journey in 1989 when I took my father, with Parkinson's Disease out of long term care, because the care he was receiving was not acceptable to me, he was with me until he passed away in 1996, after that I worked for friends and family, I got certified as a Nursing Assistant in 2003, and then my mother ended up in long term care in 2003 after coding and with multiple co-morbid diagnoses, she was with me until 2008, since then I have worked privately and in an adult foster home, senior assisted living, The Medical Team in the catastrophic care division and three different long term care facilities ( of which i will never do again due to many inconsistencies in care) , I have experience with multiple diagnoses and conditions, I look forward to serving your family.
I am currently a nursing student at Eastern Michigan University. I enjoy being a caregiver because I love to help people and make them feel comfortable and stay happy and positive. I am happy to see the progresses I made on this job, even just little by little. I also like to hear people's experiences and stories and sharing mine.
I am a retired LOSS PREVENTION SPECIALIST who gave up my career to help care for my mom who was sick for years . After she passed away I realized this was my calling, took a CNA course at age 50 and became a personal companion/caregiver for an elderly women. Her family had employed me for 5 years, full time until she died at age 94 in 2016. I then started working thru Visiting Angels and I also remain at Brighton Gardens as a receptionist, the facility where my longterm client had lived. I fully believe each client I have is always treated just the way I would want my own Mother or Father to be treated, with respect and dignity.
I am a energetic, reliable, compassionate, respectful person and I believe that these traits help me to be a wonderful caregiver. I am very passionate about what I do and love the satisfaction I get from servicing people. I was attracted to this job because it's very similar to what I wanted to go to school for; which was nursing. I later changed my major to speech language pathology and I love it! I enjoy keeping my clients company, assisting them in anything they need assistance with. One of the personal achievements is gaining knowledge about this field, since 2013 I have been able to learn so much and work with different companies as well.
I like to make my patients laugh, regardless of what the task is, whether I am helping them clean up an accident, or helping them get dressed, it can be a fun experience for both of us. I have received personal letters saying thank you for being so kind and patiently caring, from families and patients themselves. I am, also skilled at what I do. I do things thoroughly. I am stronger than I look, I can easily transfer people larger and taller than me. I know when to lower someone to the ground during transfers to prevent them from falling and hurting themselves. I know how to determine normal vital signs, and blood sugar levels. I have worked in nursing facilities with a CNA license, it is currently expired, and I will hopefully be re-taking the exams soon. I thoroughly enjoy card games, music, and puzzles. I am getting pretty good at sewing, I made the curtains in my home, and a few other things. I am pretty content do to most things. I do have a cat allergy though.
