I've been a caregiver for 35 yrs. I started in this field when I was just 17. I love what I do. I come from a medical family and decided at a very young age that I wanted to be a doctor or nurse. I specialize in geriatric dementia and Alzheimers care. Every client needs to know they're truly cared for on every level with love, patience, and kindness. I enjoy learning from them ... they often have amazing histories, stories and lessons to share.I'm often with my clients for the duration of their lives.

I started caregiver interview when I was 18 years old and loved it.

What drove me to be a caregiver is when i realized the need to serve and help others. This passion came when I lived with my grandmother who i loved dearly and as she aged i realized she needed care day by day. I automatically became a caregiver to her, a job I have come to love and perfect professionally. My reliability, patience, privacy, respect and hard work are some of my personality traits that drives me to ensure I cultivate a closer bond and be a great caregiver. seeing the satisfaction that is derived from my caregiving, gives me joy and motivates me to do my best. Psychologically and emotionally I get a blissful feeling when I know someone else has benefited from a helpful hand of care and love.

I've always had a heart for caring for others. It is such a wonderful feeling knowing I can be of help to those of need. I have 10yrs of experience in the medical field. I've started with helping my grandmother as a little girl such as brushing her hair on a daily, picking out her clothes, to then giving her, her medications. I cared for several other family members until I decided to then move on to working in a doctor's office as a medical/billing assistant which included me rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting the doctor's, submitting billing, and most importantly building friendly and trusting relationships. I'm now in the field working one on one with individual clients, being able to give my full undivided attention to make sure I care for all needs required as well as giving that security and confidence that they are in good hands.

I enjoy providing companionship and outmost care to every person I am with. I have also a great deal of medical experience. I am proficient in basic skills: personal hygiene like showers/bath, oral care, toileting, back-rub, dressing; Assists in activities of daily living such as serving & feeding, ambulating, positioning, transferring, administer meds & nutritional supplements, dressings surgical prep; Do & record vital sign: blood pressure, weight, pulse, temperature, finger pricking for sugar levels in diabetics; Measure & record food & liquid intake, urinary & fecal output and report changes. Encourage patient to exercise. Review & ask dietary restrictions, preferences, & allergies. Change bed linens, replace trash bags. Always check expiration of food & medicines. Know vital information about patient's condition, treatment plan & any suggested activity.. In a capsule, it is very important to respond immediately to patient's call for assistance and/or treatment with the goal of creating a safe, effective environment to make a difference in the lives of the patient & their families. Patience is a virtue inherent in me. I always work above & beyond my duty for the comfort & safety of my patients. I love care for the elderly and children. I have been a foster mother for the pass 20 years. It one of my passion to care for other. I'm currently just went back to school to get my LVN. Caregiving was something that fell into my lap but found that is was a true passion. I am a retail manager and I have a patience for my customers that comes naturally. My fiance became very ill with heart failure at 38. He was the first person I cared for I took on this challenge with a 100% commitment with that I had to take an early retirement from my management position. I realized this is what I was meant to do all along. Unfortunately he passed away .My heart and patience with my fiance made me realize I can do this for others and have been cargiving ever since. I am very proud and honored to be given the trust and responsibility to care for someones loved one. For them to know that they can feel at ease when in my care is essential. I am very proud of that. It's not just the day to day duties that are important its companionship. It's making the client feel they are truly cared for by their caregiver and that is not just a paycheck. It made me so happy to know my clients couldn't wait for me to come back from my days off the feeling is so amazing!!! There are a lot of caregivers out there but good caregivers are hard to find. Our elders and people of special needs need interaction, compassion, human contact, music, stimulation, conversation not just handing them medication and a plate of food.
