My name is ShelbyJo. I have 11+ years of hospitality experience with hotels and restaurants, but after years of feeling unfulfilled, I returned to school and began to transition into healthcare in 2019. I have a certification of completion for CNA school as well as previous CPR certification. I have been a child caregiver for 8+ years and working with elderly with disabilities for the past 2+ years. I'm very passionate about serving and helping others reach their fullest potential!

Nursing is a calling for me. Making sure that people receive the best possible care I am able to provide is my most important goal. Safety first always, compassion, dignity, privacy, respect and hope are all important attribute's that I find essential to good nursing care. It is a meaningful gratifying experience to know that I can add to someone's life and possibility bring goodness when health issues can be a challenge and so often depressing. Good nursing requires being completely present while in someone's home or in a facility. My standards are no cell phones while at work, no clock watching, and I always address people with respect by using MR.or Mrs. (last name) until I am encouraged otherwise. Using Mama or Papa and other terms of endearment are not appropriate for me personally in professional healthcare. I have been a caregiver/provider or volunteer in the medical field since I was 10. I enjoy providing companionship and medical to all ages. I enjoy taking care of others. Knowing that I provided each individual with the best quality of care possible for that time in their journey. I'm most proud of maintaining a reputable character in the medical field in and out of homes.

Wanted to find my better traits when I started giving back to others, making myself more aware of the ageing process and what can be expected. I connect with people that I can help out as it opens my eyes and heart in different ways. Listening to others life stories how they may differ through the ages and yet how similar they may be. Gaining not only new personal experiences but friendships from clients to family members.

I have always been close to my elderly family as a young child .As I got older I would volunteer with my friends family to help them and I took care of my Uncle Rudy after his stroke .This is when I New my next calling after his passing was to continue to help the Senior in my community as I have now for HISC for going on 5 yrs.I am very compassionate and they come first,Family's have asked for me by name after having me once they ask for me to be their care giver. I'm always a half hr, early so not to be late , I have a 100 percent respect from my bosses Buck and Tonya Shaw the owners of HISC Buck said I'm the whole package. I am trustworthy, honest , never call in unless I go to Dr, and they say with note I'm contagious. I work wonderful with others , team player,I speed walk every night I'm in great health, Mother of two adult daughters, I just got Divorced , my choice Thank you. And just moved in with my oldest daughter here in Jackson ,She just recently became a widow and asked me to live up here with her .

Being a good care partner has always been my goal in a career. I have achieved that goal and now want to share that knowledge and skill with other caregivers' weather they are at home or in a facility. I still give care and enjoy it, but I offer specialized training to the family and other caregivers at the same time to ensure the best care for the person suffering from dementia. I am proud of my accomplishment's as a certified independent trainer for (PAC) Teepa Snow's (positive approach to care) it has truly made a difference in the care and quality of life in everyone I care for. I am certified in ALC the Adult Learning Cycle to aid in the way I train individuals to ensure they are learning the best way for them.

Caregiving is very rewarding and it's a good feeling knowing that your enriching the lives of individuals who need extra help in their daily routine. I am patient and punctual. Extremely reliable and good with all ages. I'm flexible as well and am available Monday-Sunday. Registered with in home support service through the State of California.

I worked in this field for over 19 years, it started with my nephew who is mentally disabled and needing full-time care. I moved on to getting certified CNA working with the disabled and elderly in a Convalescent Hospital. After my third child I moved on to private care which I still am currently doing. There is no Greater Joy than helping others!
