I am a natural caregiver as the parent of a profoundly disabled, non-ambulatory, non-verbal child. I have experience doing all types of related tasks such as positioning, bathing, transfers, therapy assistance, g-tube feedings, pulmonary therapies, and schedule management. I was first encouraged to become a caregiver from always loving the feeling of helping my grandparents and being someone they know they can rely on. I became a babysitter when I was 13 and I babysat 3 different families for 2+ years. In March 2016, I became a caregiver for a family friend named Sandra, I stayed with her during chemo therapy appointments, help her heal wounds, exercise, talk and laugh, I recorded her blood sugar daily, e-mailed doctors for her, helped her with mail and any business she needed done such as paying bills, filled her pill box weekly - and I still communicate with her to this day.
I love being a caregiver because it reminds me that I am a genuine person and I care about others as much as myself esp. in this career. I love to talk or just simply help.
