I became a caregiver quite honestly because of my two oler sisters who are both Nurses. I love taking care of people after twenty years I still love what I do, I love being with people I love caring for the elderly I could lusten to the "old days" stories for hours I for one believe we can all learn a thing or two if we took the time I am 40 plus years old who loves people and the outdoors
Am an open minded middle aged male who is always willing to learn. Am extremely conscious and pay extra attention to details,Helping elders/seniors is a passion, talking to them and listening to their life stories seeing a happy, clean, satisfied, senior in there seats gives me great joy.
I am a licensed LPN who worked ten years in a wonderful nursing home caring for Alzheimer's patients and others who needed assistance with activities of daily living but made the decision to leave in order to care for my dad who had a heart condition and lived alone. I now have a four year old son and currently work part time as a assistant manager and bartender at a private club in Lowell ma. I am eager to get back to caring for others and hope that my experience and assistance will make a difference in their lives
So to tell you a little bit about my journey and how I became a caregiver starts with my mom being a compassionate loving nurse who taught me that giving sometimes is better than receiving. When my grandmother got ill with diabetes I took it upon myself to take care of her. The sense of fulfillment I felt helping her and other clients I took on encouraged me to take the next step and go for CNA classes. I took care of her for two years plus and After passing my Red Cross test, I am now a certified nurse assistant. Ive been a CNA for a year now and I've worked at multiple nursing homes and rehab facilities. I am not only responsible but reliable with a positive attitude and a ready to go mindset.
I am very outgoing and a people person . I know how to keep up a good conversation . I was attracted to being a caregiver by how the elderly feel when someone else helps them , and the fact that i can help someone else is great . I enjoy preparing their meals everyday , helping them move around , reminding them everything they have to do and the most thing i like is going into their homes knowing im leaving them at the end of the shift with a happy heart . A personal achievement I am proud of is i have been able to do my job the right way , winning my patients heart and taking care of someone
There is a level of trust and respect that needs to be nurtured between the caregiver and the person for whom l am caring. As CNAs, it is my responsibility to both earn that and convince the medical field at large to listen to what we have to say about the people for whom l care. When l notice changes in behavior or diet or if their moods are "off", it is often dismissed. At least in my experience. This needs to change and that is no small feat but it is a challenge to which I am very committed. l am honest, compassionate, caring and always on time.
