I enjoy helping others and get great satisfaction out of being able to make a difference in people's lives. Working with mental handicap individuals right out of high school helped me see I was making a difference in their lives and I saw I was giving them the type of care they were lacking from others. I do not look at home care as just a job, but a relationship between individuals who you can build a bond with. I have not done home care in a long time and miss the interpersonal relationships I am able to have as a care giver. I am a 1st generation college graduate which is an achievement I am very proud of and has allowed me to take on a different occupation and be successful, but I miss my home care routes and want to do what I can to help others so I am looking at giving additional time for individuals in need.

With a long history of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as being a father of 3, and as I recently moved into the security field, I have always enjoyed and taken great pride in helping others. I get a feeling of personal satisfaction from working to serve a purpose and fulfil a need for those who need it. Over the many years I've done the type of work that has involved helping others, there have been many instances where lasting friendships were built and I have found these instances to be among my most rewarding examples of working as a caregiver.

I have been in the health field for over 13+ years, I've worked at a nursing home throughout college. Went to LPN school (still have to sit boards) My most recent employer was a 74 year young lady with Parkinson's. I worked with her for 10 years. I was what she called her "Girl Friday" I did everything from medication reminders and dispensing, to hiring aides, payroll, care for her cats, ran errands, shopped for her, brought her to all appointments, Cooked for her, house cleaning, bathing, dressing, toileting and companionship ( we were incredibly close) I am a very dependable and reliable caregiver. I am kind, caring and considerate. I love taking care of the elderly. I can truly say I am good at what I do, and take enormous pride in my care.

I grew up in a family of 10 and, being the 3rd to oldest, it came with a lot of responsibility. By 7 years old I could change, feed and put a baby to sleep. With this experience, came a sense of empathy for those in need. Caring for others has always been a morally rewarding task and I plan on assisting others for as long as possible. What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves. I have a broad range going from helping those with terminal illnesses all the way to those who just need extra assistance around the house. There is no job too big or too small for me to do.

Hello! I started out as a certified nurse aide in the year 1999. I decided to help care for people when helping care for my great grandmother. It felt great to be able to be there for someone in their time of need. I have since cared for so many different types of ailments, diseases and people who need general household help. I've ran errands, did light cleaning, fed, bathed, assisted with walking. Cooked meals, taken them to appointments, also sat as a companion. I've helped others go through hospice care, cancer care, Parkinsons, dementia, alzheimers, sundowners, after surgery care, wound care, broken body parts, stiff body parts...lots of different things. I've been helping the elderly population for 24 years now. I enjoy being there, listening/talking with them, going out to lunch or shopping. Staying in doing puzzles or watching old westerns or just simply being there for them in any way I can. I've spent time with others on holidays as well. It's interesting to spend time with people and hear their life stories of "how it used to be" or to see how town was in the 40's or 50's or back when there was horse & buggy rides to school...enjoy it all. I like to spend my time with my grandbabies also doing crafts or watching my favorite series. Family is everything to me, we all try to be there and help each other as much as we can.
