I spent 11 years in the military in which I was honorably discharged at the end of 2012. I completed and received an associate degree in art while serving. I continued my education while being unemployed from the time I was released from the military until April of 2013 and earned a bachelor degree in psychology. A week later I began practical nursing school and graduated top of my class a year later and was rewarded the leadership award. I passed my state board and earned my Practical Nursing license with an IV certification. I have since worked as an admission nurse, hospice nurse, agency nurse, floor nurse, managed a long term care facility, and was a day shift manager as well as a day shift unit supervisor. I recently completed my associate's degree in science in nursing and am waiting to sit for boards for my registered nursing license. I am looking to slowly transition from the facility setting into private duty helping people in their home setting.

I started caregiving at the age of 19, there was something about it that completely drew me in and once I started there was no stopping because I love it so much. The best things about being a caregiver to me are the smile that lights up the room when I walk in, the happy tears when I doll up a lady after a good shower and make her feel beautiful when she hasn't felt that in a while, and being a part of so many wonderful families that you just cherish those memories for the rest of your life. It's truly a blessing. A personal achievement that I am proud of would be being named Employee of the Year and Month for taking on an entire census of patients by myself when both of my co workers had resigned. It was tough, but I got it done and my whole team through a celebration for me. Being a caregiver has taught me so many wonderful things in life, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I am a very caring and outgoing person. I love being a caregiver because I love helping people. I try making the person feel as comfortable as possible, by that I mean getting older is sometimes hard enough, then on top of that not being able to fully care for yourself can be quite discouraging and harder for some to accept, I like to help them and make them feel better about their situation at the same time.The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is knowing I can make a difference in someones life. I started working with the elderly when I was in high school. I had to do volunteer work to get badges. As I got older I started working with them more. I became a cook-dietary and would help on the floor with patients. As I've became older I'm now even more enjoying working with the elderly. Hi, my name is Brittany! About 8yrs ago both of my grandparents were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma 6 months apart from each other.The whole family was and still is heartbroken over it! my grandparents mean the world to me and our children and i have been helping them ever since weather it is going to the grocery store, taking my grandpa to chemo helping with physical therapy, or getting dressed i am there for them, and I couldn't do it all with out my amazing family.I have always felt the need to help everyone my whole life.I recently started volunteering my time as a lactation consultant.I am very proud of the person I've become and couldn't see my self being any other way. I am a very goofy person I LOVE to make people laugh! I have a wonderful husband and we have three awesome children.
