I became interested in care giving because my Mom was in an automobile accident which left her paralyzed & my sister-in-law was in an automobile accident which left her with a brain injury. I was my mom's main caregiver from age 17 until I was married at age 22 & again when she moved in with me for the last 5 years of her life. She had bladder cancer. I became a caregiver in Greenwood because I really enjoy helping people to be able to live at home without having to live in a nursing home. I promised my mom she would never have to live in a nursing home, and she never did. It wasn't easy but it was worth it. I prefer not to bath & dress only because I have had to do this for my mom most of my life and it's never been easy, it was something I did because it needed to be done, but if I get to know the person and they need help every once in awhile, I will do anything to help them. I was with 2 of my clients until they passed away, even thought it wasn't in my "job description", their families allowed me to visit them. It wasn't easy, but I know they appreciated it and it made it worth it. I prefer the one on one attention I can give when working with an individual in their home.
Im 48 yrs old..have been a CNA since 1986. Ive worked in Alzhiemers and dementia unit for 12 yrs..and have worked skilled care the rest of my career. I also have my sanitation license because I also cooked in one of the facilities I worked at. I take care of ppl with same respect I would want my parents taken care of. My Name is Pearlie, I have always had the caretaker trait since I was around 10 years old. I was the grandkid that wanted to stay in the house and help my grandmother take care of my granddad and the person that want a babysitting job in the summer to help out the family. It make me feel good to do for others when the can't or have no one to help them complete their daily living duties. I'm a medical assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant and would like to get back into the CNA side to have more hands on taking care of people again that is my passion.
I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping people. What I like about being a caregiver isthat you never know how a person is feeling and when you come through the door their whole day just brightens up. A personal achievement I am proud of is having my same client for a year & a half now & he doesn't want anyone else but me, that's how I know im doing my job right. I'm a very caring & understanding person. I've been working with elderly people for 11yrs now & I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I became a caregiver because I love helping people. I like being able to help the elderly live with some independence in their life. One of my achievements was to receive an A in my CNA class. I am a responsible person. I would like to add that I have already had a fingerprinted background check. I am on the Illinois health registry. I have my current CPR as well.
Hello there! My name is Michelle and I have been caring for someone since I was in the 10th grade. (Years ago) I moved in with my grandmother, she had been a widow for about 3 years. She was suffering from depression, breathing issues and I know many more health issues that later claimed her life. Her living conditions weren't the best and she totally refused to go to the doctor. I arranged for her to move into an apartment which she enjoyed for about 2 years. I never thought that I would be working in this field. I originally went to school for administration careers. But to see their faces light up when you please them is why I continue to work in this field. Plus I have the satisfaction of knowing that care was administered properly. I have worked with the elderly, as well as, individuals with special needs. Very willing and ready to meet your families needs.
