I became a caregiver in 2005. I was a teacher, got laid off and wanted meaningful employment. I had nursing skills from my country of origin, where I was a RN; so I decided to try care giving which I find rewarding, I enjoying making a difference in someone's life who has loss their ability to do things for themselves and to better cope with whatever situation they are in. When I was a teenager, I provided care for my uncle when he was really sick and bedridden. I was on vacation and decided to be with him instead.
