I was a Librarian back in the Philippines but when I came to the US in 2006, my friend encouraged me to try working with the elderly as a caregiver. Since then, I have been working as a caregiver and I developed the love and passion in taking care of the elderly. I have experience in taking care.of elderly with different health issues such as Alzheimers, Dementia, diabetis, heart diseases (ie. CHF), Lung or respiratory disease, stroke, cancer, hospice, etc. I assist my residents with their activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, walking, exercising, etc.. I also do meal preparation , laundry, light housekeeping and medication reminder. I can also assist my Residents with their errands and bring them to their doctor's appointments. I am not only a caregiver to to my Residents but I am also a companion, a friend, a confidant whom they could trust and depend on. I am a responsible person,, loyal and reliable. I stay with my Residents until they terminate my employment. I am proud of being a caregiver because I know I make a difference in the lives of my Residents and I am grateful that most of my Residents that I have taken cared of, including their families, trusted me to be part of the last journey of their lives. Hi My name is Emica Dumesle-Henry. When I first started home care, I was taking care of my mom. I am caring by nature. I know how important it is to find good help to take care of loves ones. I have been in home health care for well over 6 year. My mom had a lot of health issues I had to deal with. She was blind, she had renal failure, she has asthma, she high blood pressure, and diabetes, she was required to have oxygen. I took good care of my mom until she died this year because her health got the best of her. I use to go to every doctors appointments with. Back in 2011 at one particular appointment the case workers ask did I have any one coming out to help her, ie home care provider, I said no I do every thing. She then gave me a card and told me I can get paid for the things I was already doing, the rest is history. During the time I did home care for my mom, I received a lot of training and certificate form DHS DORS, Bed making, problem solving, working with depress clients, and many more related certificates. What I enjoy the most by doing home health care is seeing the joy you bring to people who really needs your help. My most proud accomplishment was when I use to hear my mom tell everyone she knew how I take good care of her. That use to make me feel like I am doing something right.
