Hello! After a career in many different roles, I am now a nursing student! I have loved being a care giver for others, helping them while learning how to become a nurse.

I have been working in healthcare since I was 19 years old. I worked at my local hospital for about 12 years and in that time, I learned how to do many different jobs and was always open to learning more. I quickly found that this was what I was meant to do and I was naturally good at it, and it made me feel good to know that I was doing what I was meant to do. I treat people as if they were my own family and try to remember what it would be like to be in their situation. I always listen to what family and loved ones tell me because they know better than me and working together provides the best outcome.

While working on my Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Secondary Education at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Having been a certified home health aide (while my children were young), I was the natural choice to care for my grandmother. While caring for her, I studied everything I could find on dementia and attended care conferences and symposiums in the tri-state area to learn as much as I could about the disease process and adaptations for care. When she passed away in 2005, I began looking for career options working with this very special population. I have been an Assisted Living dementia programmer/trainer/support group facilitator ever since. I have also had extensive experience with hospice, MS, dementia, and paraplegic care through Bayada Nurses, Inc. in Toms River, NJ. I have been a resident of Danville, VA for 4 years now; transferring to a sister building of the same assisted living facility that I worked for in NJ. In October 2014 I completed my Bachelors Degree in Human Services and Gerontology, summa cum laude, from Kaplan University. My goal is to become a fulltime dementia programming teacher; training healthcare providers, community service workers, lawyers, doctors, and emergency care providers.

I became a caregiver in a early age of my life. I have more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. I am a certified nursing assistant(advance). I am also medically certified with knowledge, skilled trained in many areas of the nursing field. I am very professional, and passionate with the exception of a high degree to respect others. I have had many great achievements as a caregiver. Serving 17 YEARS as a Nursing Assistant @UNC HEALTHCARE in Chapel Hill, NC and 7.5 years as a personal caregiver, with hard work, dedication I became Nursing Assistant of the year 2 years back to back. and advanced my way to making front page in the M.D. Magazine in the year of 2000. I love being able to provide one on one care with the offer of giving the best care and service
