I am a trustworthy and compassionate certified nurses assistant looking for work as a caregiver. I am a nurturer by nature, and enjoy being able to care for people that need my help. I have ample experience caring for elderly patients with dementia and stroke, as well as in a nursing home, and have cared for a wide variety of needs. Sometimes a simple smile can make a person feel more relaxed and willing to work with you as a caregiver to aid them with their inability of managing their own lives on their own. My name is April. I've been a caregiver for a little over twenty years. Taking care of others is a real passion for me. I treat my patients how I want to be treated when it's my time. When I'm with my patient they receive my full attention if that means sitting and just listening to their stories or holding their hand and calming their fears. I provided much of the care as my mother was a private person. It was rewarding and I learned alot with the AD support group. I am retired from a career as a health plan worker and would now like to help those in need of companionship, health plan knowledge for appointment setting, rides to appointments and other chores that they may need. I spent as much time as possible after retirement, at the nursing home where my aunt was living. I spoke of family history, showed her pictures, played her favorite music and took her out to the garden area. She loved flowers. There are many elderly who are in need of companionship and I am available to provide that.
