I am 21 years old. I have been a HHA for 5 years. I absolutely love the work field I chose as my career. I am a very smart, intelligent and reliable young lady. I am very respectful of everyone and everything around me.

I became a caregiver to be able to help some one family get through difficult times that they may be having with their love ones. And be able to give and show support in their love ones daily activities. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me a chance to show myself approve to some one else's family. I am able to be responsible for my patients, take pride in my work, and be a team player. As well as letting the families know that they can rely on me at any giving time to provide good services to their love one. My personal achievement is taking care of my comatose son, and knowing that I was able to do the best job in providing care for him before he past. After he past I took the opportunity to go back to school and received my Patient Care Diploma, Nursing Aid/ Home Health Review Certificate, as well as my Phlebotomy Certificate. I take pride in my work when I am dealing with my patients, I make sure my patients mental, and physical health comes first as well as there families needs. I am a team player, responsible and a take charge person when need to be. I am also loyal to my patients and there families.

I love to listen & learn from elderly people. They have so much wisdom & have lived interesting lives. I love to listen to their experiences. Once I had my back injury ( as an x-ray tech in 2010) I could no longer work 10-12 hr. shifts so I looked for a second career. A friend was doing Home Health Care for a Ms. Helen over the Christmas season & needed time off to be with her family. I was to fill in for 10 days but ended up staying for 4 years until I moved to Florida. I love working 1 on 1 with a person & their family. It is a joy to see them make little improvements along the way or just a big smile or thank you for making their favorite food or meal. My personal achievement is knowing I give 100% to my client & treat them like a family member. My clients have been both females & males. I treat them the same as I would treat my Mom or Dad. I have taken additional classes & have experience with Dementia, Alzheimer & Parkinson clients. Each person is unique in their own way, a real person with feelings & emotions. I became a caregiver twenty years ago when my mother-in-law was ill. It is God's work, and I get fulfillment out of giving back to those who always gave of themselves to us. Being kind and patient with the needy is a feeling of accomplishment. I am a widow, and mother of two sons. One is a teacher, and the other is a ophthamologist.

What i like the most about caregiving is the ability to treat those as I would want myself to be treated in time of need. I find that with compassion, good listening skills and trying to understand and empathize with my clients not only does my client feel loved but learn that they can work towards a goal, increase their independance or have one that will help meet my clients needs . I find it extremely rewarding personally and always find new friends and family along this path.
