I have been a caregiver off and on for 20 years. I first got into the field as a DSP when my oldest child was born with autism so I could learn how to help him be as independent as possible. When he went to school I got my CNA and worked in nursing homes until I married and had my other children at which time I became a stay at home mom. . After my other 3 children were in school I went back to work as a Home Health Aide and DSP. My favorite part of being a caregiver is seeing the person I'm working with gain or retain skills that would be otherwise be lost or unknown.

I am very compassionate and attentive to the needs of the elderly. I am extremely dependable and highly motivated in providing patient care. I am very loving and love to listen when they are talking to me. I have been in the medical field most of my working career, however I worked in Pathology and not as a caregiving. I am very knowledgeable about what happens when we age which I believe helps me understand what a person experience during the aging process. Listening to people tell you about who they are and what they have done over their life time. I had the opportunity to take care of an elderly gentleman during his last days and making his last days as enjoyable and pleasant and possible. I think of him and miss him everyday. He died two months before his 100th birthday. He was an amazing man. I believe that I not only comforted and touched his life but he touched mine. May he rest in peace.

I am a caring, dependable, and patient person who genuinely enjoys helping others. Growing up, I learned how to be responsible and independent at a young age, which taught me how to provide support, stay organized, and always put others' needs into consideration. Taking care of others has always been a part of my life. I helped raise my two younger brothers and cared for my mother throughout my teenage years. Those experiences showed me how meaningful it is to be there for others and inspired me to pursue caregiving. What I enjoy most is being able to make a difference in someone's life, even in small ways. I love building relationships with people and knowing that my support can bring comfort, companionship, and peace of mind to them and their families. One achievement I am especially proud of is helping raise my two brothers while also caring for my mother and managing household responsibilities. Taking on those roles at such a young age taught me resilience, compassion, and the value of hard work, and it helped shape me into the person I am today.
