I am an RN looking to return to providing the care I hoped to do when I became an RN. Care, compassion, exceptional verbal and nonverbal communication, and above average critical thinking abilities are just some of the skills I possess. In a home care setting, I most enjoy the ability to provide the 1:1, quality care I would want for my own family and friends. In a facility or at home, I love utilizing my ability to discern a patient's needs, often off the beaten path. My greatest personal achievement was raising my two developmentally disabled children to become independent, upstanding citizens.

My name is Michelle. I have enjoyed the last two years of training and caregiving experience with the elderly. I have worked specifically in an assisted living environment, where I managed the home with 5 care residents per one caregiver. Additionally, I have worked in homes with 10 residents per two caregivers. In each home, I have been able to individualize the care to each person, as their needs may be. I have experience in crisis' management, fall risk, dementia (Alzheimer's) care, and much more. My responsibilities including keeping relations with families/nurses/care team members, cooking and serving meals, pristine cleaning of homes, showering/toileting and assistance with all Activities of Daily Living.

I have been a caregiver to children for over 15 years. I recently obtained my nursing assistant certification, and have had experience working in a prestigious, skilled nursing facility. My passion is to care for people, specifically the senior citizen generation. I have been a caregiver for 15yrs. I started off caring for my parents as they aged and then went on to work for an agency for a few years before I decided that I wanted to go on my own. I enjoy getting to know the clients and their families. I have several certifications in elderly care and am vaccinated as well.

I am a very positive and caring person which helps in my job field. I love to help others. I fell into this field and fell in love with what I do. I love all my individuals and doing something different everyday. I am most proud when I can teach or help someone relearn a skill and see their reaction.

I am a retired Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience taking care of elderly patients in the nursing home and hospital setting. I became a nurse because when I was young, my grandmother was very ill. I helped her with cooking, cleaning and activities of daily living; including shopping. I enjoyed helping and being depended upon. She always said I would make a great nurse and I believed her. I am a great caregiver because I love what I do and am passionate about quality of life for all. I have a sister with Down's syndrome and I helped take care of her and teach her many life skills. My parents are elderly now and I live out of state, but I keep very abreast of their care and daily living through daily phone calls and follow-up calls to doctors and social workers, etc. I have always taken care of my family, I became a nurse at 33 years old; when my last child went to school. I am very proud of that. I recently, in 2008, sustained a concussion which lead into post-concussive syndrome. I have come a very long way from where I was then, and even though, I cannot return to nursing as a career, my passion for taking care of the senior population has not waned one bit. It was my life's dream and I want to still be able to make a difference in people's lives.
