Hello! My name is Tia. I have been in the caregiving, and healthcare industry for over 15 years. I got into the field by recognizing a need that I could bring to seniors, and it became a passion that I have enjoyed ever since. As the years passed, I wanted to take my skills to the next level. I enrolled in pre-requisites for nursing, and completed my AS with the goal of getting into the nursing program to become an RN/BSN. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant, have current CPR certification and TB clearance. I have extensive Alzheimer's and dementia care experience, as well as hospice and end of life palliative care experience. I have excellent communication skills and work well in utilizing various means of technology to document the care and status of my clients. I recognize the importance of maintaining the safest and most dignified environment possible for people as they enter a time in life when care is necessary, and feel honored to be able to be part of each person's story that I encounter.
Hello and thank you for wanting to learn more about me. I have been caring for those in need intermittently for over 20 years and find a joy in helping individuals while maintaining their dignity. I have cared for a diverse range of individuals with many different needs ranging from assisting with fall risks to hospice. I started care giving when I was 18. I worked with children and young adults who had severe brain damage or physical disabilities. I then started caring for disabled adults through IHSS and eventually left the industry for many different reasons. I always found my way back, though, to work with those who have special needs, either in the administrative aspect or mentoring. Now, after caring for a dear friend, I have found myself wanting to stay in the care giving business once again. Some things I have experience with include ambulation, transfers, feeding and hygiene care, and expect other duties of a general sense to include light housekeeping and cooking. I have worked with individuals who suffer from Dementia, Alzheimer's, strokes, and MS. I tend to learn habits and preferences through observation and communication and try to anticipate my clients needs. For instance, I had a client who did not like her fingernails dirty and preferred to have her hair curled with a little bit of bangs. When she declined to the point of not being able to communicate anymore, I still made sure her fingernails were clean and her hair was curled just how she liked. I also add cognitive stimulation for clients who have Dementia and Alzheimer's and try to keep them engaged in familiar activities. Essentially, my goal is to be able to give the best care possible for the circumstance. I believe patience, kindness, and empathy are key to being a great caregiver. I am also a believer in allowing a client to do as much for themselves as possible for as long as they can.

I became a caregiver to help elderly live there lives at home where they are able to be around familiar things and family. I believe it is important the elderly feel they have a say so in there care as they age. They deserve respect and love even though they may be unable to do certain things for themselves.
I think our parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends deserve the best care in the world. They deserve loving and honest care. They deserve friendship and loyalty. And above all things; to feel ok and comfortable with the new transition of needing extra care and I've strived to become that in my 15+ years career as a caregiver.
