I have the greatest respect for my elders. I believe just because they cannot do what they used to does not mean they still dont deserve another chance to have a normal life. I became a caregiver because of the great amount of empathy i have the for the elderly. I was employee of the month only three months after working in a nursing home because i go above and beyond for the residents. The bond i have with my patients are astonishing even to me. They become my family and i love them as if i were their child or grandchild.

I'm loving, caring, compassionate love dealing and learning from the elderly I've been doing it for 8 years! It's very rewarding I wouldn't change this profession for nothing I love what I do!

Me,I became a care giver because I like to help others,

I became a caregiver when my mother became really ill. I took care of her and took her to her doctors appointments and gave her all her medicines. I stayed with her for 19 days until she passed away. I also did the same for my mother in law until she passed. Now I am taking care of my 85 yr old father which has hypertension, diabetes, and dementia. I went to practical nursing school and received my diploma, but did not pass my test to receive my license. I am CPR certified, as well as a CNA. I love to take care of elderly people. I love to sit and talk with them. I love to encourage them to eat all their food. I connect very well with the elderly and they connect with me. I am very loving and understanding and patience. I was the oldest in my nursing program. I had 6 children that I raised on my own, working 2 jobs most of my life. I want to retake my nclex test so I can receive my license and become a LPN.

Why did I become a Caregiver? I had a personal experience with a family member and had to ask myself How would I want to be treated and taken care of under these circumstances.What do I like about being a Caregiver ? a meaningful role that allows you to show your love and respect for the person even if you don't know them you build a bond with that person.
