My passion is working with the elderly. I am honored by the families that put their trust in me to care for their loved one who may be on the final path of their life requiring Home Hospice care. or is at that point in their lives where assistance is needed in order to continue staying in their home, being as independent as possable, staying safe. My commitment for each and every person is to provide them with companionship, assistance with physical needs and whatever else they need, whether it's writing a letter for them, or baking their favorite cookies, straightening out closet shelves or holding their hand, reading a book to them or just sitting quietly with them. I believe it is ao important to pocess tthe traits that are important in caregiving which are flexibility, willingness to sit still when you notice its what the person you are caring for needs. Paying attention is very important. A caregiver cannot just "be there" I keep logs in order to ensure the Doctor and nurses and family are notified of ANY changes such as skin color, urine intake/out take, bathroom habits, signs of weakness, facial changes, depression/mood changes. If bedridden, log needs to include turning times, any skin breakdown issues, A good caregiver needs to go outside the box, be willing to do what otherwise might be uncomfortable, be drama free. Assisting the family is one of the things that helps them know who I am and relieves some of the stress from their lives. By helping doing even the smallest of details, yardwork, cleaning a garage etc. I promise you that I will make the same commitment to respect, never diminish their dignity and do all I can to provide the stability, comfort your loved one deservesI I did not become a Caregiver to change the dynamics of lives. but to be there to make them feel safe, healty and secure. Compassion goes a long long way.
My name is Debbie, and I have been in healthcare for over 35 years as a registered respiratory therapist. I have worked in hospitals and rehabilitation centers caring for adults, pediatrics and infants. I primarily worked with adults and loved it. However, after all the years of 12 hour shifts and heavy patient loads, I have decided to do something new. That is why I chose to be a caregiver. I still can enjoy my clients and provide quality care and have the time to do so. I am almost 62 years old and have been widowed for 4 years. I raised two boys who I am very proud of and recently became a grandmother for the first time. I am by myself so I have flexibility for my clients hours. I am a good cook , easy to talk to and very outgoing.

People say I am reliable and confident caregiver. That I do now what I do and is very educated. I wanted to become a caregiver for this is my passion. I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines but I cannot work here without a license but all I want to do is help and take care of the sick and elderly. One of my personal achievement in my life is that my previouse client told me that I am on top of everything thus it's making her life and her family's life a lot easier.
I love being a caregiver, because helping people especially elderly is a very rewarding job, someone need to help elderly and that's me, should help them .. Not everyone likes to be s caregiver but for me it's a very rewarding job. I feel good if I can make an elderly patient smile again and especially if they can get back in walking again . I was very proud of myself when a dementia patient of mine was back to her normal situation ( not exactly normal) but giving the medications on time and feeding or reminding her or him that it's time to eat will help a lot in getting better. Time management for the daily activities of the patient will help a lot in getting better for the patient well being . I considered myself as one of the best caregiver at my job now, and will continue to give my good care to the elderly until I retire .

I became a caregiver because, I love providing care to help people who can't help themselves. I feel the passion and the concern from family members, knowing, that their family members or relatives need care that they are unable to provide. Thus, providing quality care to my patients gives them a quality of life that they have been longing for. I have worked as a caregiver for over 10 years and the smiles of satisfaction and joy on my patient's faces gives me joy and I feel I have done my job well. I love providing care to people because I can connect with them emotionally. Meeting new people from different works and cultures and providing them with quality and efficient care gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. I give the best I can to my job without any excuses. I make my patients feel at home and comfortable as much as possible by bringing a smile or a sense of humor as I become part of the family. I have over 20 letters of recommendation from family members and awards also. I am caring, loving, and kind. I am a born again Christian and a cancer survivor. I understand what it means to depend on someone else to help do things they can no longer do.
I love to help and serve, and enjoyed helping my aging parents in their later years. They were unable to leave their residences, so I was more than happy to do errands for them, do some cooking, and make things neat and tidy. I also enjoy getting to know people and learning of their history, and life stories. It makes me feel good to be able to help someone out. My favorite personal achievement is raising 3 service dog puppies that are placed with the disabled.
