I am currently a second semester senior at Salve Regina University in the nursing program. I have been a CNA since I graduated high school almost 4 years ago. I have also had clinical experiences throughout college which has fiurther heightened my passion for being a caregiver. I would describe myself as compassionate and empathetic. I truly enjoy my time with the clients and patients I have spent time with and gotten to know. I have found that seniors/the elderly are a population that I feel particularly drawn to. I feel that I can learn so much from listening and being present with people, especially those who have lived different experiences than me in a different time period. I like connecting with those I care for, but I mostly enjoy helping those who need it. I would love the opportunity to provide care for someone in my last semester of college.

I am an independent, motivated person. I am young but very mature for my age. My personality traits consist of having a big heart, being kind and also having a sense of humor (can't imagine living without this!) I have honestly been a caregiver all my life. My mom was a single mother with 3 kids and with me being the oldest, I had this sense of duty to try and help her care for my siblings even though she had never asked for the help. I loved being able to help my mom and it gave me the best feeling, knowing I was helping my family. Ever since then, I've tried to help people as best I could. The thing I enjoy the most about care giving is being able to make a difference in someone's life while being a regular human being (no superheros allowed!) My personal achievement that I am proud of is having the opportunity to graduate high school and have a rewarding job as a caregiver.

I am very compassionate and patient. I want a career in health care and wanted to start off as soon as possible, and it was the best decision of my life so far! I am proud of being a CNA itself, being 18 years old and doing what I do is very mature and challenging for someone my age but I love it so much.

Determination and having a compassionate heart is what makes me a great caregiver. Besides the enjoyment of taking care of other people, I try to keep a possitive attitude no matter what I do because I want to make sure that I am providing the best care possible at all times. I became a caregiver so that I can help make a change in the lives of others. What I like about being a caregiver is being able to take care of people which I believe is a blessing within itself. Just knowing that I have the privilege of helping to nurture someone else back to health is what puts a smile on my face. A personal achievement that I am proud of is completing my Medical Assistant class. The road to achieving my goal has not been easy but I have persevered inspite of the challenges that I faced.

Skills & Certifications: Dementia, Diabetes, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Depression, Alzheimer's Disease

I became a care giver because of the joy I get after seeing the positive impact of my care on a client. For instance, seeing one of my intellectual disable client lead a happy , safe and fulfilling life because of my input in his life is enough to make it all worth my while. Caregiven to me is the most rewarding thing a person can do. I like the fact that making little changes in my action, attitude and life in general can make major beneficial changes to someone with physical or health compromises. It makes me feel like a heroin, an important person to the world. Due to my keen observation and quick intervention, I was able to save a client's life by giving Heimleich maneuver during a choking episode. I am a young energetic, caring, and compassionate woman, whose love of putting others first makes the job of care giving an easy task.
