Some of my personal traits that help me be a great caregiver include empathy, compassion, patience, attentiveness, dependability and trustworthiness. I took on the role of a caregiver in 2016 when my own parent needed tending to. I and am currently employed to date with the same company. I enjoy providing physical and/or emotional care for an ill or disabled client that can no longer do so for themselves. Although it can be challenging at times, it can also be a very rewarding job as well. I enjoy assisting and bringing comfort and companionship to my clients. My greatest achievement that I am personally proud of has to be raising my 3 children on my own. The second and equally important personal achievement was caring for my own parents when they needed home care. Lastly, the ability and will power to go back to college and receive my BBA.
I enjoy caring for Client that are in need of service. I'm a very caring person with lot's of patience . I enjoy long conversations with my clients and taking them for walks, playing games, puzzles and cooking for them and outings. And I just love the fact that I can be there to help with their needs due to their families busy schedules. And it makes me fill good when clients thank me for being there with them.
Although caregiving is a challenging career, it is one where I've found immense compassion, love, and reward. I enjoy learning for each client that I get the honor of taking care of. Every elderly man and woman have so much wisdom in their own right. I love listening to their stories and learning something from each person. I'm very proud to be a published author. One of my former clients used to help me brainstorm story ideas and new subjects for my poetry. I enjoy reading books with my clients and sharing the day together.
I care about the human spirit, and we are all brothers, and sisters, I would like to leave someone. better than when I found them . I was a caregiver to my mom for a couple of years, and I had other patients, who I enjoyed being there for them. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the friendships, that come out if this , it's been a long time since I was a caregiver, I went on to substitute teach, and have been a server, at several restaurants. I'm proud to have raised my son to be a caring human being, and sensitive to others needs. Personally wise I'm a happy and upbeat individual, who is grounded and knows how challenging life can be, I've learn to not take people or life for granted, dont hold grudges, Love God and trust in him, and his timing and let go, of worry, fear, sorrow, anxiety, etc that is how I live now.

I have been a caregiver since I was 15 years old and still in high school. 20 years and I am just filled with the lively energy that is needed for this kind of challenging work. I've always cherished the honor to love others and have taken pride in the journey to make a difference in someone's life. I am able to build the companionship needed with enthusiasm. This comforts the fears that surface with life's challenges. I have mastered empathizing with encouragement to calm the storms of life and handle any crisis with kindness and patience. A variety of issues can surface on any given day so problem solving in a positive and timely way with flexibility has given me a strong record of client satisfaction. It comforts families that I offer experience and expertise having worked for many years in nursing homes, hospitals, private duty homes, hospice home health. I must be attentive to the client and family with impecable communication skills in order to serve and maintain the ability to monitor the health and personal care of the clients daily lives. Most importantly be dedicated, supportive, dependable, trustworthy, and compassionate in order to have peace for the family that the client will have a better quality of life. I posses the knowledge to do this and thrive to be improving everyday life in many ways. The rewards are huge and I was born to serve others and be sucessful. I ground myself in medical knowledge and crave learning and improving any way I can professionally. The last family I cared for they considers me family now and I have built many cherished relationships along my journey with caregiving. All which will last a lifetime. To me that is beyond amazing and I anxiously await the next opportunity to be caregiving.
I knew at a very young age ( 12 ) that I wanted to take care of the elderly. I use to go to work with my mom, who was a LVN, and help her with her patients. I loved every minute of it! At the age of 19, I received my license and began to care for the elderly on my own. By word of mouth, my name became very well known around the community where I lived at that time and I was as busy as one could be. I love assuring my clients are safe, clean, happy and comfortable. I love to cook and clean as well. I'm very comfortable around pets and I do not smoke. It's very common for me to stay extended hours if I feel like my clients need me for any reason whatsoever. My clients know from the first day that they can contact me anytime day or night and I will assist with them and their needs. I love working hospice as well, and have done hospice work for over 25 years. It's a very rewarding feeling knowing my clients left this earth clean, comfortable and loved. My life revolves around my clients . I love learning from them and with them, laughing with them and loving them. The last 27 years has been a dream come true ! I hope that it continues for another 27! Thank you! Terri Burlison
