I am a happy, healthy, compassionate, loyal, patient, loving person who found my caregiver calling late in life. I am 61 years old and have been doing this for a little over 7 years. I love what I do but don't have enough of this in my life I need more of it. I started when a couple different neighbors of mine took ill and didn't have any family to help them. I had my CPR CERT so I said why not and when they were better I decided to make this my work. The first client I had was in very bad shape when I met him, diabetes, renal failure, heart failure, living on his own not keeping up with his meds or taking his insulin properly. I called his Dr. got him on a med schedule and with the right food, TLC and exercise he did quite well. Since then I have had several different clients, one was on hospice and others I took to dr appts., med Mgmt. , meal prep, errands and companionship. I enjoy my work and I work hard! Being diligent, loyal, trustworthy are the strong traits that makes the clients satisfied on my genuine service. They make me feel a kind hearted person with charitable acts, no second thoughts of protecting people whenever they said in me, If they can let me stay with them 24 hrs they will but on second thought they still want me to have time with my family. Clients and residents in facilities always told I am different I always find ways to go beyond on what they expected. They gave me a great knowledge to face different circumstances on different condition like Dementia, Alzheimer, Arthritis, Cancer recovery, COPD, Depression and etc. They taught me to become expert in giving shower, grooming, Laundry, Cooking, Preparing meals, walker, wheelchair, nebulizer, Inhaler, Oxygen. I am always looking forward on the good result from having a good working relationship with the client and extended with the family meaning their enjoyment from all the effort and right care I deliver with their loved one. I've learned to be more patient, in every situation listen more, learn more and smile more thats the correct way to grow in this field that God chosen for me. I am very thankful to God he trusted me this very rewarding profession. In the process I am the one who benefited the most. I have been in the home care field for over 10 years, I enjoy helping seniors and I have learned alot from them. I have also cared for family members who have passed from cancer. I just enjoy helping those that want to retain independence in their own homes. I am a CNA,CHHA and also a Medical Assistant for the state of California. I have experience with special needs adults, Alzheimer's, COPD, stroke, Cancer,Parkinson's, ALS,Diabetes, I know how yo use a Hoyer lift have knowledge of oxygen concentrateors. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I look forward to hearing from you.
I. I became a Caregiver because the word "Caregiver" is what I am. I care for humanity with special needs or partial/full assistance and a giver because I give all I have on my reach to those who need to do the things they can't, for example (ADL's) Activities of Daily Living.
2. I like everything I have done so far as a Caregiver. From experiencing clients with the care of only companion to the care of hospice. Many clients I had done care for with different cases and thats what I like about being a caregiver, because those cases are reality in life that make me stronger when the time comes to my love ones or myself also, the satisfaction I feel when a person says thank you with gratitude.
3. The achievement I am proud of is when a client or patient recuperates from a physical or health problem with my care.
4. I can say about myself is what people had told me in my 37yrs. of age. Also, what I truly considered and had known through my years as a Caregiver. I am lovable, caring, funny, smart, responsible, I have good memory of schedules and program a routine, I am a mom of 3 educated and good children of ages 15, 11 and 8, and I am also happily newlywed with a wonderful man. I love to cook healthy foods, clean and organized. I always tried to make sure the other person is comfortable and happy. I have good sense of humor and I also consider myself honest and respectful with others. Joe D.
I'm a very patient and caring person, I work with althemizer & dementia clients the most but have worked with so many different clients with different disabilities, I love doing this kind of work it gives me substance and I love being there for people or lending a helping hand, I've worked in this field since 2003, starting with children then with seniors, I have my drivers license, a car and insurance, have pass the livescan, if clients are able I like taking them out and doing things with them movie, shopping or whatever the client feels they would like to do or go. I'm very trustworthy and hate being late, sometimes I might get there a lot early but will be there with a smile and ready to help
