Hello My name is Doretta Harden I'm a proud mama of 2 sons age 11 and 13. I'm passionate about understanding the importance in raising not just sons but men of community and they will be husbands one day. For 15 years with out hesitation I knew the importance of making sure my mother had the proper care so I became her caregiver. In doing so I did not know that taking care of my mother would give me purpose, meaning and add value to my life while I was giving her quality of life until I watched her take her very last breath. During those 15 years I was taught by her physical therapist the proper way of transporting her in and out of bed and to and from my vehicle. I would encourage her every day to take a few steps with her walker. I would transport her to all her doctors appointments every three months making sure I was her voice when it became difficult for her to answer questions. I became her power of attorney to I could sign her name when she could no longer do so. I stayed on top of reminding her of her medication while staying in constant communication with her nurse and her health Plan. I helped with bathing, Assisting two and from the bathroom when she could to make sure she was clean, and every evening helping her have put on her adult diaper and every morning changing her depends also making sure that if there were any accidents in the night making sure her bed stayed clean so she did not develop any sores and if so I made sure she got the proper aid to heal her skin. I always made sure her skin stayed hydrated leaving her feeling good and comfortable. I learned in through caregiving the most important job was companionship being by her side every day getting her to activities to buying her favorite snacks, watching her favorite shows whatever was needed to keep my mother in my life. That bond was be companionship for that Im honored that I was able to care for my mother because I was able to be by her side for the last years of her life.

I'm good at what I do. I'm very reliable and I work hard. I started being a care provider from my moms friend and I enjoyed helping her until she passed away. I enjoy helping people that need my help that can't do things for they self. My personal achievement would be that I'm a hard working man I'm able to get up and go to work everyday without regard.

I became a caregiver because I have a passion with providing care to those individuals who need assistant with staying in the comfort of their home safely. I enjoy being apart of a team who promote clients to reach their highest level of independence. After, discovering I really enjoyed the kind of work that I do I went back to school and pursued my CNA/HHA and Acute Care license. I have five years of experience as a PCA, My first encounter was taking care of a stroke client. I'm independent, empathetic, trustworthy, reliable and really committed with the job I've been called to do. I'm currently a Geriatric Aide and working for the Center for Elder's Independence as well.

I am a caregiver with more than 10 years of experience, I chose to become a senior caregiver is because it comes naturally to the family. I like this field because I am known for my sensitivity, my giving nature and my nurturing desire to help those who need help. l like being a caregiver because it is the most rewarding thing I can do and my passion is to put others first. Personal Achievement that I am really proud of is that I can care for seniors that need my help. I'm a mother of 5 and grandmother to 10. I've worked as a caregiver for the last 15+ years and counting. I love my clients and working with the elderly. What started out as a job became second nature and probably alot of that has to do with my cultural background. I loved it so much, I paid for my own training and certifications to be an independent caregiver. I got bonded, insured and registered with the state and I have several great references from the loving families of those whom I have cared for over the years. I've had great experiences with those who I have worked for and with, along with learning from wonderful nurses and doctors that I've interacted with during the care of many of my clients. I am very proud of the achievements I've made in taking the initiative to learn as I go with each client, and each client came with various conditions and ailments, and some with multiple conditions. It has been a great journey of growth and connection for me like no other and I find it so fulfilling to be able to help our elderly population in need. They have been all like family.

I become a caregiver when i started working as part time and i realized, how big impact my rules for the elderly who's in need of our care. I like what i am doing since then and Im so proud of what I accomplished each time I finished my shift. I didn't realize , someone like me can be useful and Helpful and that makes me happy to go home knowing that i did something good to my clients and their family. I may not everything they need but I am very caring, confident of what Im doing , compassionate and trust worthy with dignity, caring loving and have a great sense of humor to make my client smile in my presence. I am a good listener, I also like to engage in conversation, I am very punctual. I like to hear peoples stories and look at family photos (past, present and future). I am patient and have a kind and loving heart. I like to advocate on behalf of my client when I see a need too; allowing space and time to build a healthy relationship and a bond of trustworthiness.. What attracted me to this work are those family members and loved one's whom I love dearly, faced with their own mental, emotional, physical and psychological challenges. Being able to lend my support to them in one way or another I found to be very fulfilling. I have always found a pleasant sense of joy in the ability of giving back to others who are in need of my services.. There are many hurdles one must strive to overcome in this game of life no one is exempt. I can honestly say that I have learned many lessons, and in the process received just as many blessings.
