My dad had heart surgery and needed a caregiver but none of them didnt seem attentive enough so i stepped in as his primary caregiver in assuring i went the xtra mile to help him make a full recovery. I was born in Culver City, Ca. and raised by my grandparents there. I enjoyed gardening with my grandfather and knitting/crafting with my grandmother all the while listening to stories about life back in the islands and their journey to the US for opportunity of a better life. As I got older, I became my grandparents' caregiver. Caring for them is what interested me in this line of work. There is so much more to caregiving than meds reminder and assisting with ADL's or pillow fluffing. One must have empathy, patience and a great sense of humor (just to name a few) in this line of work. What makes ME stand out from the rest, is my patience and ability to build a rapport with my clients so they continue to feel independent.

What makes me a great caregiver is I have a natural urge to help others. I have always placed a priority on helping other people. I want to make the world a better place and I can do it with one home care patient at a time. While still in high school, I became a Candy Striper for a local hospital, helping out with medical records and little jobs as needed around the hospital. Being surrounded on a daily basis by this kind of environment is what made me want to become a caregiver. Being a caregiver is such an honor - it's all about putting away your needs to assist others. Knowing that a smile on your face can bring joy and happiness to someone else is priceless. The moments when you can reflect back and see how you have helped someone is what caregiving is all about. The personal achievement I am most proud of is that my background in nursing and care giving allowed me to care for my mother for 13 years at home before she passed away. And from that I was able to care for my aunts without putting them in a nursing facility.

I am very proud of the level of care I provide to my clients. I am compassionate, understanding, empathetic, and love my craft. Honestly, I first became a caregiver because I understood job security, but quickly became my passion. One of my greatest accomplishments in caregiving was when I had to teach my son to walk again after having a major surgery. My heart was so overwhelmed because doctors said he wouldn't. Love, patience, and determination helped to overcome his illness. I will treat your loved one with the same dignity and respect.
