When I was young , being a help to others wa s very important to me. Witnessing suffering when I could make a difference was the reason for my choice to be a Medical Professional and I went to college to be a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I worked in the Heart Clinic at St Luke's Regional Medical Ctr in Boise Idaho, the Heart Transplant unit in Salt Lake City, Utah; and an LTAC Center in the San Francisco area for individuals who were difficult to wean off the ventilator and move on with their lives. A very rewarding history and it was a joy to see each patient go home with a new lease on life and move forward.

My life is built around love and compassion. I have worked in healthcare for 17+ yrs, with some of my my most memorable moments in elderly care. I have worked anywhere from, home health, hospice, memory care, assistant administrator, etc. I have spent the last 5 yrs as a stay at home mom raising my children. I love working with our elderly community because they have lived and know a life, we will never know. I love to listen to their history, how they were raised, and see them through different eyes. Laugh and smile with them. They were once young just as you and I.

Hello my names Rachel I have been a CNA for 5 years and traveled as a CNA for 4 years. I love the fulfillment I receive by being a care giver. My first job, off the farm, was as a CNA in a retirement home. There I cared for one of several wings full of elderly people all with various levels of need. I have found that working with the elderly and being able to bring stability and comfort to their daily lives, the most rewarding job I've ever had. I take care of elderly couples in their 90's to ensure their life quality at home. Love my references.... Today, my grandma is still living independently in a very large home; at the age of 99; that she has maintained for many years. With some outside help, such as myself, she is able to go on living there instead of a retirement home. I look forward to working with my clients and see how I can make things safe and capable for them. I've also come to realize, that even a person, my own age, can have so many needs too and with just the right person to assist with the activities of daily living, makes all the difference in the world to so many people.

As of October 4, 2022 I'm current with all COVID-19 vaccine shots and on Oct 4, 2022 I got the newest booster shot. I have been a IP ( Independent Provider ) Hospice/CNA nurse for 10 plus years now after obtaining my license in 2011. But been a caregiver for over twenty years now. My certification includes experience working with Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Cancer, Autism, Mental Health, Nurse Delegation, Sundowner's, Stroke/Brain Bleed, Stroke with AFO brace, Cerebral Palsy, PSP ( Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) and Diabetes. I am CPR certified. I have my own transportation, non smoker, and have a clean driving record. I love working with people, but my passion is to work with senior citizens. I enjoy reading, cooking, scrapbooking, listening to music, love doing puzzles and playing with my three small dogs. I am handy in both house and yard work. The part I love most about what I do is the smiles and enjoyment that I can see on my clients faces from the care and help I give them. My most recent work has consisted of taking care of a ninety-six year old sweet lady with Dementia/cancer. I've worked in several different types of care facilities since then. I specialize in dementia/alzheimer patients, but have experience in home health care and assisted living as well. My passion for this work comes from a deep bond that I hold with my own grandmother and to be able to share that caring side of myself with my client and their families. I found my passion for healthcare through giving birth to my son and the amazing help everyone provided to me during such a stressful time. My love and strive to be a caregiver I got from seeing my grandmother switch to and from nursing homes. There were some good ones and there were some terrible ones. Seeing the ones who treated her terrible like she wasn't a person and hearing how it hurt her, that is why I chose to do caregiving. I wanted someone to treat my grandmother like we do and I would love to extend that hand to you and your loved one.

Working with people in a home care. Or residental setting can be challenging but also rewarding at the same time. To be s successful caregiver it not only takes book smarts but a few essential qualties only certain people have that makes them stand away from the rest. I posess the following qualities and that is why I feel I stand out from the rest. it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion i am letting my resident know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. Make them feel important and at that moment the most important. Patience. Is a virtue many do not posess. When you work with someone who is depending on you to help them with things they can no longer do it is important that you are patient and understanding. It helps to sometimes put yourself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. When a person is rushed that is when mistakes happen and injuy and accident occur. I am someone that can be counted on to be there. If I says i am going to be there to provide cares every Thursday morning, then inwill be there every Thursday unless there is an emergency. Those needing home care services need a reliable and dependable caregiver. Trustworthy. Most people need care services are in a vulnerable position. They are inviting someone into their home/room to be near their valuables. A good caregiver is someone who is trustworthy in this regard, as well as in being trusted to keep the client's information confidential. Flexible. As with most things in life, home care needs may change and unexpected events can happen. A good caregiver will be prepared to go with the flow, being flexible, so that they continue to provide good caregive, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed.

I am caregiver at my core. I have a variety of experiences and extensive training from spending 8 years as a CNA, working in memory care, Skilled Nursing & doing private in home respite. I spent 14 years as a Social Worker after earning a Bachelors in the field. I then raised 4 kids while running a successful piano studio. In 2013 I went back to school & earned a degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant which I feel combines my love of Caregiving with both my experiences as CNA & Social Worker. Home Health is stressful and crazy and I miss the relationship building. Looking for a different setting to apply my knowledge, skills and love of helping. I care deeply for my patients, enjoy building trust and enabling patients to have the best self determined quality of life possible! I'm patient, quiet natured and even keeled.
