What makes me a great caregiver my heart is about the client and they care and well bein and making sure they are cared for properly and have a companionship with there making it about them letting them know they are still loved and no matter what I'm there for any needs to be met by them I became a caregiver because I use to go to work with my mom and watch her care for her clients and I always told myself I wanted to be someone who could be there for someone who could not be there for themselves and I want them to know I'm there for them and they are like family to me in anyways to be I being doing this over 20 yrs I have well experience caring for patients in there homes in the assist facilities and nursing home home I even worked in group homes I know how to use the hoyer lift and transfers meal prep dealing with medication reminders and doing the medication ADL for the clients cooking, cleaning , grooming went to the Doctor appointments and having a companionship with them letting them know it's about them and not me because my duty is to make sure they are comfortable

Hello my name is Demeteries Hawkins. I've been a Patient Care Assistant for over 20 years. Growing up being the oldest of 6 siblings I had to be the caregiver due to my mother working long hours as a nurse. In my adult life I've had many jobs but no fulfillment until I started caring for others. I found my purpose and calling. I truly enjoy/ love being a caregiver it brings so much joy and self gratification. My mother played a big part of why I love being a caregiver. seeing the love, she gave, and the return love played a big roll. It feels good to know that I have gained a client trust as well as the assurance that I will take care of them. To see them smile or just help them through a rough day knowing that they can count on me is a great reward. I've had a client I had just started with ask me, is this just a job or do you care? I care about what I do. This is one of the biggest questions that a client or family member has when looking for a caregiver. Staying positive, going beyond the call of duty, compassionate, caring, outgoing, patience, etc. To have the opportunity to care for your loved one or self would be a privilege and a blessing.

I'm a very easy going person, I've been a CNA over 20 plus years. I treat my clients as though we're family or the way I want my mother to be treated. What attracted my to caregiving, was having compassion for others. I most enjoy about caregiving is getting to know my clients and/or their family. My personal achievement is loving the care I give and knowing I'm doing my best.

I've worked as a nurse assistant over 16 yrs caring for disabled, elderly, ill, and mentally challenged clients. I have worked in nursing home, hospital, home care, senior facility, respite care, private duty, direct care service, and hospice care, and trained in massage. I like to challenge myself as a caregiver with promoting new work skills. My time is giving care to others, that cannot do for themselves. My achievement is to see my three children succeed in the life that values them. For myself, to be recognized for my work performance, that's giving to each individual that has been cared for, show appreciation. I had several resident tell me that I'm wonderful, and I had a tearful moment. It's a blessing to hear positive thinking from a client. I'm a certified assistant living manager, private caregiver, and studied massage technique . Thank You.

I believe in helping others that's what encourage me to be a caregiver, started out in California my first job was working at a long term care facility, as a Nurse aide at monte vista care center in Montclair CA where I took my CNA class and got my certificate in august 1991. From then I continuously working as a CNA at different facilities, hospitals, and private homes. I love what I do and with experiences that I have I know I can provide the superb care to my patients, clients, your loved ones.

I am a loving and Compassionate person. I started taking of my grand mother at the age 15yrs old and she is 92, so that is what motivated me to be a caregiver and pursue the career. I enjoy it because it is a work that require human conscience and it remind me that' one day I will be old. It is call to serve God through humanity it is not just a profession. You need patience and tolerance to accommodate the elderly. The quality of care I will give determination how long their lifespan will live especially for the hospice patients ,and for the dementia and Alzheimer's patient, it require a lot of strategy and knowledge of the stage and how to handle them. For bed bound or disable they need total care service.

I became a caregiver because, I like taking care of the elder as I use to do for my grandmother. As they grow older they are more cheerful and like someone to be around them. i have achieve a lot as a caregiver, making my residents warm, comfortable and happy. I am more concern about anyone I take care of as they need us most as ever.

My compassion and my personality, I have a very big heart , im a great listener and I treat clients as if they are family . What I have learned throughout the years being in this field is that clients/residents want to be recognized as a friend or family . Most of them are alone and have no one who cares that they are sick , depressed, and feel like they have nothing to live for anymore. As caregivers we have the ability to show them someone cares , even a hug can go along way , Bringing a client there favor food, combing there hair, its small simple things that brightens there day. I started off young babysitting and helping my mom raise my brothers while she worked 2 to 3 jobs. When I was 13 one of my uncles who was sick told me that being a caregiver would be for me he was diagnosed with HIV, I helped to take care of him. Til he passed away . I watched how sad he was, and how people treated him because he had HIV it disturbed me. Thats what me want to be in Healthcare almost my entire family is in Healthcare to help those in need to help uplift those that are down. I enjoy making clients laugh and smile, seeing how happy they are makes me happy. My personal achievement honestly is being in Healthcare.

I am a caring, loving, honest, compassionate and flexible person who started taking care of my father who was diagnose with Leukemia about 17 yrs ago. While taking care of my father, I found joy in caring for others.After losing my father I card for other family members while obtaining my CNA license. I enjoy learning person information about the patient. Building a bond with a person who one day you will consider family. One of my personal achievements was completing schooling for Funeral Director and Embalming I successful completed school March of 2018.
