I have been doing Home Health since 2009. I have been doing live in Private Duty Home Care off and on for the same individual for the last 11 years. At one Home Health Company I was promoted from caregiver to The Assistant to the Administrator and I was given the position as Intake Coordinator.

It takes a special person to care for our elderly. I treat your family, like I would be caring for my own. I have been a CNA for over 12 years, working in a nursing home was not a good fit for me. So I left and have spent the last 10 yrs caring for people in their own homes. I have cared for the early Alzheimer's and watch them transition. I have cared for a set of 26 wk old preemies and watched them grow to become very active girls. My greatest traits kindness, caring, loving and patient.

Hourly wage is negotiable I decided to become a caregiver because of my grandmother. As far back as I can remember she was a home health aide, I enjoyed watching her interact with her patients and making them feel comfortable. After watching my grandmother interact with her patients, i decided to try out the caregiver/assisted living/geriatric world in 2005, where i fell in love with the industry. I have been a caregiver for geriatrics and mental health for up to 10 years and have always enjoyed it. I have worked with patients that have all stages of Alzheimer's and dementia, including sun-downers, also patients with MS and ALS. With all patients, i like to get to know the family and help them understand and cope with Alzheimer's disease as well as MS and ALS and other diagnoses, which all can be very hard for some families to cope and understand. Not only do i care and look after the patient and their needs, but i also look after and care for the families. Because although, they are not being cared for by the aides, they too still need help at times. I am always there for the families for a shoulder to cry, a venting board, or just when they need help out or around the house. I do not only do my specific job duties, i do things that are not asked of me, i treat your home like i do mine. When i see that something needs to be done, i take it upon myself to complete that task. For example, dishes in the sink, dusting, trash overflowing, or helping a family member with something. I have assisted with assembling an entertainment center before, just to be a helping hand.

I became a professional caregiver after seeing both sets of grandparents in hospitals receiving hospice care. I was young at the time, but incredibly unsatisfied with the level of care performed in those types of institutions. I strive personally to provide the best care possible while retaining my clients dignity and independence.

I have been a professional caregiver now coming up on 8 years and before that I enjoyed caring for my grandparents during their retirement years. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about history through the eyes of those that lived it. I also know how important it is to feel safe at home and part of what keeps me in this field is making sure seniors can stay at home and receive care instead of having to go to a facility where things maybe unfamiliar. I'm passionate about my career as a caregiver and provide a wide range of services.

I grew up around the elderly from the day I was born. My mother was an LVN and caregiver for a special lady who I began to love and call my grandma. As I grew up I knew my passion was caring for the elderly. After nursing school, I enjoyed working in the hospital but decided to leave and do home health for a while. Then, when I moved to DFW, I decided on hospice. I am so glad I did. It is my calling. I love sitting with my patients and hearing their stories about growing up and their life. I take great pride in being able to care for my patients and knowing that my care makes a difference in their lives. I am a very outgoing person who almost always has a smile on her face.
