I have been in healthcare for awhile now. I've worked with dementia patients, hospice patients, and most diseases or disabilities you can think of. Healthcare and assisting people in general has been what I've wanted to do since I was a child and I'm now fulfilling that dream. Taking care of those who once took care of us! I enjoy being a caregiver because knowing the fact that I can make someone's life a little easier by assisting them with simple tasks makes me feel so much joy. I truly love what I do.

I have an outgoing and very caring and compassionate personality. I was first attracted to becoming a caregiver in 98 two years after graduating from high school. I wanted to give back to others who have given soo much of their love and compassion to their own families and friends over the years, back to them. I enjoy most about being a caregiver being able to make another happy, and stress free by being able to take care of all their needs. A personal achievement of mine is when I earned my certification as a C.N.A yrs. ago after taking classes and doing clinicals.

I am a level-headed health-care professional who remains calm and effective in extremely difficult and stressful situations. I have strong beliefs in the importance of companionship and in patient care. I've worked with children, rehabilitation for those recovering from surgeries, elders whom need nothing but a companion, people suffering Alzheimer's and/or Dementia, and also with individuals who have physical and/or mental disabilities. I myself was born with a mild form of Cerebral Palsy but, never let it stand in the way. I grew up in the healthcare field because of my dad who has been a nurse my whole life and would bring me to work with him so I could play bingo with the residents. Ultimately I chose this career path though because, in 2013 my mom was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and after being admitted into the hospital I spent weekends by her side and sadly saw first-hand that the staff were not giving her proper care. Shortly after her being hospitalized I decided to drop out even with it being my senior year. I started classes to obtain my GED and also registered at Indiana Healthcare Professionals and the day of her funeral was my first day of classes to become a Certified Nursing Assistant which I successfully completed in June of 2014.I love the healthcare industry because I have found a little piece of my mom in everyone I've assisted; which is why, giving my best is never questioned. I plan to start school again in the near future to become an elementary school special education teacher. At the very least my experience as a CNA has prepared me for my next path. Hello, there. My name is Mariah and I'm a hardworking, down to earth country girl. I enjoy spending my free time reading, going on long walks with my dog, hiking, sipping hot tea and cooking. I'm an excellent cook and I have culinary training. I've always been interested in caregiving ever since I was a child. Babysitting for family members turned into me becoming a professional nanny at age 22. I also grew up with my elderly father in the house and was his primary caretaker while my mother worked 2 full time jobs. I had to go to high school online to stay home and help take care of my father. Which, if I'm being honest, I wasn't too excited about missing out on high-school...but now when I look back, those are the memories I cherish most with my father because it was just he and I. I'd drive him to run errands, cook for him, we'd play games and watch the history channel. It made me happy to see him full of life even though I knew he was struggling. I've overcome a lot of obstacles in life and I'm very thankful to be where I am today. I work hard, save my money and I travel when I can and most importantly, I get to do it all right next to my family. CPR & First aid certified 2022
