I have been doing home health care for over 20 yrs now. I love my job and what I do. If I can make someone's life easier then I know I have done my job. I Love people And not just anyone can do this kind of work. You have to have a passion for people, and that's what I have. Every client I have had love my work. I'm good at what I do because I love what I do.

I've been in the health care field since 2011. I Started off working in adult foster care then transitioned into working at a Daytime Enrichment Program. Recently, I've started Helping Hands In Home Respite Services to provide families with temporary breaks from taking care of their loved ones. I started my journey assisting others in this field shortly after leaving college to help take care of my mother in 2010. One thing I love about working as a caregiver is the people that I serve. Helping those in need brings great rewards; building new relationships, learning and experiencing new tasks, making someone's life a little better, one day at a time.

I was born in Lansing MI, and at two I moved to Grand Rapids, I went to Eastern Elementary School and then to Creston High School. I took up Machine Shop and Architectural Drawing. I was the oldest of 12 children. After high school I took a Tool & Die Apprenticeship. I also worked as a volunteer for the fire department. I built a house in Sparta Township where I live with my wife. I retired from Tool Die 2010 because of cancer. Then I started volunteering at Rest Haven Homes which ended up in a paid position. I enjoy making some one happy and to do the things they enjoy and also to be a companion and a friend. I do transportation to doctor appointments, dentist appointments, shopping, movies, out to eat, visit a friend, errands, or travel, I also do in home care with dressing assistance, mobility, exercise, meal planning, and preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, etc. I have completed classes on Hospice Care, Dementia, and worked at Rest Haven Homes for 12 years, and 3 1/2 years with Leaves Personal Care.

Some personality traits about myself is that I'm outgoing, caring and honest when it comes to my work and always try doing my best job at any task that I'm given. Helping my grandmother take care of my great grandmother attracted me to become a caregiver, helping others you love is an unmatched feeling. I enjoy being able to make the clients smile and happy knowing I made their day easier just by being a helping hand. A personal achievement I'm proud of is still being in college although I ran into some obstacles along the way.

I'm patient, compassionate, and dependable, which helps me build trust and provide quality care. I was drawn to caregiving because I enjoy helping people and making a difference in their lives. What I enjoy most is creating meaningful connections and knowing I can bring comfort and support. A personal achievement I'm proud of is being recognized for my consistency and positive impact in the lives of those I've cared for.

Love feeling needed. Also love giving the patient the best, day possible. Love to watch old movies, bring old postcards, or cook be dishes their mother made in the past. Miss my own grandparents terribly. Caregiving fills that void for me. Love, it when my patients relive the past, and feel young again! Proud of taking care of people and helping them regain joy, in their last days.

I love to help people. Its my passion as was my mom's and my grandmothers. My family comes from a long line of nurses. I'm responsible, loving, caring, and passionate about my job and making others feel comfortable. Alot of people tell me I'm hilarious but I don't see it. I really enjoy the stories and life lessons you can learn from just listening to the patients and once in a whileit puts courage in me too do the impossible. Some people think of a male caregiver as akward, but I think we need more Male nurses in the world.
