I have been a caregiver for 20 years: I joined a full-time church ministry and was ordained as clergy. I served as a hospital chaplain for five years in my clergy position. When offering spiritual and moral support to my patients, I discovered I could be involved in extended care. I provided personal hygiene and bathroom services to my patients as a chaplain. This was because I cared so much about my patient's well-being (I do). I did my CNA certification and joined the caregiver's vocation. I have diverse experiences in the medical field and facilities. I have worked in Hospitals, Nursing Facilities, Adult family homes/ group homes, home health aides, hospice aides, and medication technicians. I have a calling and am very passionate about serving patients; I feel fulfilled when I make patients feel comfortable and well-supported. I take delight in the care I offer to my client. Helping patients feel and recognize warm, tender, gentle, and good-natured caregiving. I am a hard-working caregiver, Neat and organized. I started of in the caregiving field with taking care of my grandfather. In the process I got to learn a lot and I did enjoy doing it. I treat every client like my own family with love and compassion. Every client had different needs, so I get to understand the client first and foremost. I mostly enjoy the learning process in caregiving, no matter how long one has been a caregiver, we get to learn new things every time. I once had a client who had dementia (late stage), who did not want to go to bed (it was late at night). One thing that the client enjoyed was watching animal documentaries . I showed the client pictures of different animals that I had taken when I went to Kenya and the client calmed down and I was able to redirect the client to bed. My patience with the client helped me assure the client that I was on her side. This scenario really made me proud of the caregiver that I'm becoming. I love what I do.

I being the first born in my family have done a lot of care in different areas. I was taught by my parents how to love,give attachment, attention, protection and help regardless the kind of situation. I've always been trying to help the elderly back home in severe cases and have been doing this out of my heart I was also a teacher and a counselor back home and this helped me very much to know how I can chip in and give some care I'm always happy when I see someone out of danger and is having some peace. This caregiving job is extremely good because when you are with your clients you relate with them and therefore you feel in the right place and in another family setting. I really enjoy because I feel them as my family forks. I've realized quite some reasonable changes generally in my clients lifestyle and health improvements .when I see they are confident and are trusting me for their care I feel good and honored, so I feel proud of my achievement.

I pay close attention to detail, as everyone is different. I took care of my blind sister in law and my aging mother in law and developed the desire to help people who used to do things for themselves but can no longer do it. It gives me satisfaction to see them live fulfilled lives despite needing help.

I am an honest person, patient, I am keen to details, I am open to experience, I am empathetic, I am compassionate thus the reason as to why I chose to be a caregiver and since I have an experience rooted back in childhood whereby I was taking care of my grandparents up until they passed on when I was at the age of 22 years old. So, I enjoy working with people and I enjoy jobs where I interact with older adults since I feel I can get along well with them and I believe I can be a good companion too. I am able to identify a problem and solve it if it is within my scope of work, I am creative that I can come up with a new idea that may improve things if allowed to. Have received complements from my supervisors for being creative and being able to solve problems without making anyone around me panic.

My expertise comes along when I started working in rehabilitation I gained a lot of experience on how to take care of elderly, how age changes attitude in human being and how to deal with it. After I took care of my grandmother that's when I get interest in caregiver and I enjoy being a caregiver because I surely change older peoples life and somehow proud of this because one family told be that due to my care I gave their mother more years to live because she had companion and someone to take her out while family is busy.
