I have the calm and quiet type of demeanor and have been told on several occasions that my voice is very calming. Basically, I get along with everyone. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is that it's my calling and what I'm passionate about. It comes very naturally for me after being in this profession for over 30 years. What I enjoy about caregiving is how it makes the person I'm caring for feel. My heart is full when they feel like I've done a job well and that's my intention. I love when my clients request me! It means my heart and passions are showing.

I have been caregiving for the last almost 13 years. I started my caregiving journey young helping take care of family. Once I started my own family I took care of my mother-in-law for a while. After that I began working in facilities and Adult family homes. I currently have all of my CBRF certifications required by the state of Wisconsin. I started my caregiving career at the age of 12 when I started volunteering at a local nursing home. At the age of 19, I took the 120-hour course and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am still listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry under my maiden name; however, I have not followed up with continuing education, so I can only perform these duties in a non-federal facility or home. I have worked in nursing homes as well as worked in private home care. I have extensive experience in caring for people with dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. I have cared for younger adults who have special needs, but my main experience is in caring for the elderly. My philosophy is to treat the people under my care the same way I would want a loved one to be treated. I believe it is always possible to maintain dignity regardless of the help needed. I see people, not diagnoses. I am very intelligent and friendly and have an excellent sense of humor, which is so important in this kind of work! I am most interested in live-in home care for one family. I believe that continuity of care is extremely important for establishing trust. I find that it can be confusing and distressing for you or your loved one when there is a revolving door of caregivers. Also, I find that the loved ones of the person receiving care rest much easier when they have one point of contact. I would expect that there would be some respite hours on my behalf to avoid caregiver burnout; however, I would still be available if a respite worker couldn't come for his or her shift. I started care giving when I was 15 years old when I started helping take care of numerous people in my family. I didn't fully start care giving on a professional level until I was 18 years old. I really do enjoy care giving , I always have. Being able to help someone with something they are no longer able to do themselves , or just even being able to make someone's day better with my help or just by my company, makes me happy.
