My name is Shelby; I'm a kind, caring, empathetic, and outgoing individual. I have my CNA license and have been a caregiver for 3 years now. It is great to help others when they are either incapable or just need a little bit of help. I have always wanted to be in the medical field and I feel this is the best place to not only start, but be. My patients/residents are what I enjoy most about the job because without them I wouldn't have a job. They are what makes me excited about work and being an extension of their family always brings a great joy to my life. Hi! After witnessing my mother's decline with dementia in an assisted living facility, I KNEW I could provide better care to the aging with more compassion and intuitiveness. I followed my heart to become a caregiver and took the 75 hour training required by Washington State to be a licensed Home Care Aid. I felt this would attest to my professionalism, commitment and integrity toward the care I could offer, and DO offer! I truly love my job. I am respectful, calm, attentive and a good communicator. Listening and understanding are important for everyone involved so I like to keep notes and communicate by phone regularly and often with family and others. This is in the best interest of the client-a loved one aging in their own home. Because of my experience I often have suggestions to help make things easier for the client to stay in their home more comfortably, safely and sometimes more fun! I'm very resourceful! I work well as a team member- whether it be with the family or as a member of a caregiving team for the client. I have a strong work ethic and great sense of humor (and the discernment to know when to apply it!).

Hi my name is Holly . I am a caregiver at a facility in Sequim WA and I absolutely love it. There are definitely difficult days but they are oh this work is so rewarding to my heart. I am trained and experienced in working with those who suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer diseases. I am a mother of three babies ages 2,4, &6yrs old. My Grandpa passed away a few years ago and that's what pushed me to want to dive into this field of helping seniors. I am very patient and have a way with people who exhibit difficult and challenging behaviors. I am also married going on 8yrs in June to an incredible partner and father to our babies. My hobbies include yoga and I am an also an active member of a women's fitness studio in Port Angeles. I have been a caregiver for 16 years, not counting the years I cared for my son who had intestinal issues from birth and a neice and nephew both with varing degrees of Down Syndrome.I assisted my Mom with my Grandmother who had Alzheimers and Dementia.I recieved my Oregon State Cerrtification in 2001 after working for a company in assisted living houses for two years doing full on care to basic guidance. I have always wanted to be a nurse and caregiving was the best thing I could have ever done. i enjoy being able to help families keep their loved ones at home if that is the choice they make.One of my most favorite parts of it is hearing the stories about their lives and how they remember the days when they were young and how life was lived at that time. Keeping your loved one safe, well cared for and comfortable is my top goal as a caregiver. I'm always smiling and cracking jokes. I come to my job put together, and open my arms to any kind of challenge. With some residents, we dance to the bathroom. With others, we have a light switch that is broken that I need them to come help me with. Stories and communication are my best friend. I love working with dementia patients, but I am also very wonderful with more independent elderly as well. I am physically strong, and can lift over 50lbs. I can cook high protein health conscious meals and I will ALWAYS push hydration. I can handle some combative behavior, please be honest with me. I firmly believe that I take care of my clients just as I would myself such as including proper body hygiene care and oral care. I am able to help with feeding. I am CPR/First Aid trained and certified. I am fire safety certified. I am mental health, and dementia certified. I have an operating legally owned and insured vehicle. I would prefer to stay local, but would be willing to negotiate pay if services are needed from a further distance. When I first became a caregiver I never thought I would ever become one. I learned so much, so quickly, and so eagerly. By the time I was crosstrained with assisted independent elderly, and dementia/mental health and behavior challenged elderly, it began to feel effortless and empowering. I am so passionate for, and about the people I care for. Dementia isn't always patient, and dementia isn't always kind. It's challenging work but I will show up on time, and your loved one is my number one priority with a smile. I consider myself a guest in every clients home, therefore I reciprocate that belief into the quality of care and my positive behavior. I am a great listener, and I will validate your loved one in whatever they believe as long as it doesn't involve harming themselves, or others.
