I have had a passion for health care & mostly the elderly population since I was in Kindergarten. However, I enjoy helping anyone who needs my assitance. I became a care giver because of the need & my own self satisfaction of helping others. I am proud to say I have been a Medical Assistant for the past 20 plus yearsr but feel I have come to a point in my career where the clinic setting has becomemore of a business and not very personal & caring. In the office setting you are rushed to room patient's that it has taken over the personal touch that I was proud to give. I feel the home setting you can be one on one which probably makes the patient feel more comfortable & the focus of why we are there to help them. I enjoy helping others to make their lives as full and content for them as possible.

I became a caregiver as a young child. Helping my cousin, Brian, who had Downs Syndrome, overcome fears and succeed made me deeply happy. I worked my way through college as a live-in caregiver, and relived the joy I had as a young girl helping Brian love life. If I had to give one reason that sets me apart as a caregiver, it is this -- love making others feel safe, content, happy, and challenged. By that, I mean motivated to overcome problems and feel hopeful once again. Overall, I have been caregiving for 15+ years (except for the 20 years I taught school), and I give God the credit for placing the love and compassion in my heart for those who are suffering. When I help others, then I am happy.

I am a caring, patient, loving, and compassionate caretaker. My deepest desire is to serve others by meeting their physical need. I am a good listener and love to be a companion for both the young and old. I think that being a care taker is one of the best and most needed jobs. Their are so many individuals who previously have experienced a full and independent life, but are unable to now due to a disease or illness. My desire is to come along side of those who are in need in order to improve their quality of daily life. My favorite part about caregiving is the the when I can see someones quality of life improve just by being there, loving them, and coming along side of them. I am proud of the many grateful smiles and "thank you's" I have received from different patients over the past few years. Being a nursing student, spending hundreds of hours serving others, and many more hours studying in order to give patients the best possible care has been one of my greatest achievements.

I was a registered nurse for twelve years and decided I wanted to get out of the hospital scene. However my passion continues to remain in caring for others that need help. I have cared for my mom, who is now deceased, for many years. I feel that helping a man, woman, or child in their home environment is extremely important. It gives them a sense of independence and wellbeing. I cared for a woman after I left nursing who had multiple sclerosis and cancer for two years and unfortunately she had to go into a nursing facility. As far as my personal achievements...in the past I was telemetry, ACLS, CPR certified. I would be willing to renew any of those if needed. I have always seemed to develop a great rapport with my patients and always worked well with my staff. As far as a personal achievement goes, I had a patient that had three strokes in succession. She would always call out my name. Finally she was discharged and years later I was at a new hospital doing orientation and she found me. She came from New York to see if she could find the people that cared for her. That was an amazing experience. Personal life--I have my husband and a stepson and a crazy cat. I have worked with clients from stage 1 until the final stage (7) of dementia. I also worked in the hospital setting for four years. I have four years of experience on the surgical/ orthopedic & pediatric floor! I have experience in knee, hip replacement, spinal etc. I have assisted in rehab right after surgery. I have a lot of compassion for the elderly and anybody that actually needs help in home What attracted me to caretaking was that I cared for my grandma that had dementia and other issues for three and a half years I love being able to do the one-on-one with people it just gives them more sense of the feeling that they're actually cared about it's hard to get that in a facility I am very proud of the person I've become I have a lot of compassion I'm willing to go above and beyond for any family it just makes me feel like a better person
