I began my fascination with healthcare as a child. I would polish my grandmother's white nursing shoes for her in the mornings as she was getting ready for work. She worked as a CNA at a nursing home in Lexington, VA. I remember looking at her and thinking I want to be just like her when I grow up. So as an adult I received my LPN and worked 18 years in Critical Care roles as well as skilled nursing home units in Roanoke and Martinsville to honor her memory. I've spent most of my life taking care of people because that is my passion and what I'm most proud of.

I have a heart for this work , I enjoy working with my clients. It be the smiles and the conversation with them that melts my heart. What attracts me to this line of work Is the job it self to put help others especially with the older generation. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is knowing my clients are safe and loved. I am very motivational and speak empowerment to move forward for the next day in a very positive manner. I am a 43 year old mother of 2. I'm originally from NJ but I've lived in Virginia for quite some time now. I love helping the elderly. I've been a CNA since 2002.

I'm a very cheerful person who enjoys caring for others. I became a caregiver in 2018 and thought I'm not sure if this is for me but we will see! Well 4 almost 5 years Later I love what I do no matter the person, age or problems they have Being able to help someone and be their friend at the same time make me enjoy my work much more. Being a healthcare worker is more than just a job/career to me it's my life and I enjoy every bit of it. My most recent achievement I am proud of as a caregiver was helping an elderly lady a couple of houses down from me and she had fallen outside there was no one around to help her at the time, my family and I had come home from a night out so I put my children in the house and ran over to make sure she was okay and proceeded to help her up check her scratches and bruises out and help her inside her home. It was actually the same lady who gave me a hard time at one point but that time nothing else mattered.

Throughout life I have been tested through trials and tribulations that would've and should've tested my endurance, however, I prevailed and was able to overcome. Growing up I was raised by my nurturing grandmother, due to my mother being incarcerated, and my father was not being a prime factor in my direct upbringing. I was taught at an early age play the hand that you were dealt, and to always keep an open mind, be respectful, never make hasty decisions, and think things through to get a better result. As mother I am instilling the same qualities into my children. As a wife I carry myself with dignity, I am loyal, supportive and a team player to ensure a happy home. I decided to pursue a career as a of PCA, as a way of giving back, my grandmother took care of me growing up and when she became ill, I was the main entity that stepped in to care for her well-being. I ensured that she made it to all her appointments, was feed on a daily basis, and bathed correctly. I spent countless days and hours to make sure she was comfortable within her home and it was a clean and tidy at all times. I was raised to care for others, it's a passion of mine to help other build self-esteem, encourage, and get the help they need to feel like themselves and respected. As a PCA it's about quality of life and helping to help other maintain a balanced life.

Everybody is not fit for this line of work u have to be very Patient with some and Firm with others. U really have to have a Passion working with seniors, and I am one of the many people that take pride in my work. I'm very dependable, trustworthy, and Kindhearted. I will treat your family member like they were apart of my very own family. I love to bring joy into their lives and show compassion.
