I always have love taking care of the elderly. I took care of my grandma and my great grandma full time before they passed away. It's just something I like to do. Throughout these years I've met and worked with a lot of interesting people, most who have since passed, but I remained with until the families decided they no longer wanted to keep them in the home for one reason or another and then I was on to my next one never forgetting the one that came before them. I enjoy my job because of the people that I have been lucky enough to come in contact with. I hear stories from other people about their clients and I say to myself, I haven't had those issues. I have never had a client that I did not get along with or just could not tolerate. My clients made it easy to enjoy going to work everyday and not look at it as just a job because I never made them feel like they didn't have a choice or a say in what was going on. I always made sure they knew they still had options everyday.

While working on my Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Secondary Education at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Having been a certified home health aide (while my children were young), I was the natural choice to care for my grandmother. While caring for her, I studied everything I could find on dementia and attended care conferences and symposiums in the tri-state area to learn as much as I could about the disease process and adaptations for care. When she passed away in 2005, I began looking for career options working with this very special population. I have been an Assisted Living dementia programmer/trainer/support group facilitator ever since. I have also had extensive experience with hospice, MS, dementia, and paraplegic care through Bayada Nurses, Inc. in Toms River, NJ. I have been a resident of Danville, VA for 4 years now; transferring to a sister building of the same assisted living facility that I worked for in NJ. In October 2014 I completed my Bachelors Degree in Human Services and Gerontology, summa cum laude, from Kaplan University. My goal is to become a fulltime dementia programming teacher; training healthcare providers, community service workers, lawyers, doctors, and emergency care providers.

I have been a caregiver/medication technician for 9 years, I love what I do. I enjoy working with the elderly that is my passion. When I started my journey as a caregiver and working with the elderly has caught my attention being around them and doing things for them has made me the person I am today. I have always wanted to be in the healthcare field working in homes, assisted living and memory care facilities with the elderly, getting attached to them like they are my family. For 12 years I have been cooking for local Resturant's, for the last six months I have been cooking for an Assisted-living, long-term memory care Facility. I absolutely love it. I have experience in house keeping as well. I am looking to expand my experience at another places homes and just makes peoples life's happier an easier. I have Availability Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM as my child's daycare opens at 6 AM and closes at 6 PM

Hello I have been working in the home health care position for 3 years been in nursing to aide for 6 years and a nursing home certified nursing assistant for 12 years . At this time I am getting my CNA license and enjoy working with the elderly is my life and my joy. Also have been activity director for only a few months but loved every moment of it. I love spending time with them, getting to know them and understand, their likes and dislikes. I love listening to their stories how was when they were younger especially couples on how they met and what's their secrets to a long relationship and marriage.
