I'm a great provider because I'm a people person and I never met a stranger. I was raised by my grandparents and at a early age I learned how to take care of a large family by the time I turned 16 my grandmother developed Alzheimer's and I stayed and took care of her until she passed. I became a caregiver because I know what it is like to have an elder become sick and struggle to watch them when you have a busy schedule yourself. I experienced it in high school with my grandmother and watched her slowly slip away in a matter of 2 years after my grandfather passed. Experiencing that made me want to help others because it is a emotional and stressful journey trusting people you do not know with the ones you love. I have 4 years experiences of taking care of my grandmother who has Alzheimer and Dementia. I would help with her ADL, do house work, medication reminder. Because of her decided to get my CNA. I work in a facility for 8 months with Alzheimer and dementia with Parkinson just being there for them when my residents need help/reminders. helping them daily with their ADL assist with feeding, transferring to bed to chair/wheelchair. I enjoy being caregiver why? Just knowing that I'm helping someone an just hearing my resident saying with my help their lives our better I'm proud of myself that I got my CNA now I'm working on getting my RN.
