I grew up in a home where my brother was diagnosed with being severely mentally disabled which gave me a passion for wanting to be in the health care industry. My mother was diagnosed with dementia as well and I have experienced challenges with my own health in the past. This is relevant because it hit close to home and it gave me a deeper understanding and a greater depth of compassion that I would not have otherwise had. I am studying to be a nurse and my goal is to work in underdeveloped countries where they desperately need medical care. I consider it a privilege to be in the health care field where I can have a job with meaning that positively impacts others lives.
