Nearly ten years ago, my own mother went from being a healthy, engaged woman in her 70's to enduring an unfortunate bedridden circumstance, and seeing her pain, took it upon myself to ensure her best care by becoming her full time Care Giver. In this capacity I scheduled all physician's appointments, provided transportation, dispensed time sensitive daily medications, prepared meals, oversaw nutritional intake, bathed her, assumed toileting needs, provided house maintenance, managed bill paying, planned daily walks with wheelchair, managed rehabilitation exercises, and provided comfort, entertainment (the local theatre, she loved plays!) and, of course, extra companionship. I'm proud and happy that I was able to provide her the best care in her own home, which she cherished, and knowing that she felt safe, secure, and loved. After her passing, I decided to become officially certified to provide the level of care I enjoyed giving to others in need.
