About Kimberly

Punctual, kind, patient and responsible! Keeping busy and caring for others is part of my being as well as keeping focused while keeping a light sense of humor! I have over five years experience as a personal CNA and home health care giver. In those years my work has included caring for Alzheimer's, stroke, depressed and physically disabled patients. Bathing, cooking, errands, hoyer lift, medicine reminders, light housekeeping and toileting are just some of the responsibilities I've performed. I am looking forward to working with you and/or your loved one! I usually respond within an hour or two! I'm the oldest of six I have always been a caregiver but I when I needed a break I would go visit with my grandparents or older aunts and uncles. I loved their stories and knowledge they shared! While raising our daughter and foster children I worked in the corporate world, banking, customer service and management. After 20+ years I felt I wanted a change. A friend was looking for some one to help her watch two sisters so I offered to help but had no experience. I found the work to be very rewarding, reminiscing, watching my clients smile and generally knowing I am making a difference and giving back to someone who has given so much and are now in need of assistance themselves. Keeping them in their homes as long as possible is a plus. Also a huge plus is giving their family members a peace of mind knowing their loved ones are being cared for. Recently I have been able to help my own parents, while my father is in rehabilitation after a stroke, I have been training my mom who now is taking on his household chores. Now both my corporate career and my caregiving careers have merged! So just to add I am very time conscious! I usually arrive 15 minutes early to everything! I like to keep busy so I will actually look for things to do! Record keeping and communication are also very important to me. To keep families informed makes for better care of my clients!

Most recently I have spent some of my time in Florida, my father recently had a stroke and is in a rehabilitation center so interestingly I am teaching my mother how to do bill pay, explain cell phone, teach her about their new car accessories all things one spouse may do and the other has no idea how to do these days. Keeping track of Dr. appts., and procedures that have been or will be done. Meal prep for freezer, making sure she is getting rest, driving to visits, dealing with insurance companies and getting updates from hospitals and rehabs. This is very new to me in healthcare as she is physically and mentally capable of doing things on her own but did not know how. It is overwhelming for a senior or anyone to take over household duties as well as make arrangements for their spouse and daily visits. I currently am on a schedule to visit monthly

Visiting Angels
I had 3 female clients with Alzheimer's all were able to physically care for themselves but I watched to make sure they did not wander off on their own. I would take on daily walks, help with bathing, shopping or dining, light meal or snacks, light housekeeping and keeping company. One gentleman was in general depressed, I kept him company, took him out for meals, made easy meals, snacks, ran errands and light housekeeping

In this case I was the caretaker of two sisters, Ronnie and Vicky. Ronnie was a wonderful 97 year old with Alzhiemers she was able to care for herself physically but I was needed to help her with light housekeeping, bathing, dressing, easy meals and occasional accident (bodily) clean up. I did shopping and took her out to dinner and to Dr. appt. using a gait belt, stair lift and wheel chair when she did not feel like walking. Most of the time I was there to visit with and keep her company. I worked with her during the day, but occasionally in the evening. Vicky was delightful but moody stroke victim, she had paralyses in her legs and one arm. For her I my was able to help her out by changing, bathing and dressing her in bed. I used a hoyer lift to get her into wheel chair. We did some exercise and speech therapy. I prepared meals, helped with feeding, light housekeeping, medical calls, errands and any incontinence issues throughout the day.
