I became a care giver about 12 years ago when I started working on weekends for a 92 years old in Riverside, CT. Since then I have learned and understand how much life change when we grow old. That is why I said that compassion, patience and respect are very important qualities to perform this job. I love to work with the elderly because it is a great school that will help to an individual to be a better person by taking conscience of human being needs during the difficult transition in life when an older adult Lose Their Independence. My biggest satisfaction doing this type of work is making them happy; keeping them busy by telling me stories when they were young, playing games that they enjoy and helping them to feel active and still helpful by asking questions or suggestions while we interacting running errands or taking rides around areas familiar to them. Even more rewarding is when you gain their love and respect of the family. I have worked with three different families in the state of Connecticut for five years with each of them until the patients passed away . So, reference are available. I am 54 years old originally from Barranquilla, Colombia. US Citizen living in America 25 years now. I possess formal education and worked 14 years for a Global Distributor Company of Polymers as an Export Coordinator in Wilton, CT. Relocated to Miami, FL year ago.
