1.) I love the elderly and I feel they need to be cared for as they cared for us, (our parents) when we were children. 2.) Being around the elderly and showing them I care for them and letting them know they are not forgotten. 3.) My personal achievement I am proud of is overcoming the guilt I felt when my son was diagnosed with Diabetes (insulin dependent) at 7 years old (now 28). I was divorced and I felt I was to blame suddenly I was questioning myself did I feed him the right foods? did I let him eat too much junk food? And also Diabetes was what took my Mothers life and it was in the family line on my Mothers side and I gave birth to 2 son's , and 1 daughter, my middle son inherited the diabetes and I stopped working to stay home and monitor his diabetes, he was in 1st grade then. I learned a whole new life because of my sons diabetes. Diabetes does not just affect the person who is diagnosed with it , it makes an impact on the whole family. To me it was a challenge in my life that I turned into a positive way to live with Diabetes because my family and I were given the tools to work with to help my son. And now at 28, because of mine and my familys love, care, knowledge, support groups, the highs and lows, he has control of his diabetes in a healthy and positive manner , he takes good care of himself and he has only experienced 2 seizures.
