Experience & Education

MHT

Kingwood Pines Hospital
My job requires me to hold therapeutic groups and de escalate rising situations amongst patients. If I'm not able to de escalate the situation then I have to perform "handle with care" and proceed to other methods to ensure the safety of all patients. I work in a psychiatric hospital on all units that are divided by age groups and their specific problems. I work with ages 5 up into geriatrics. I occasionally have to take EKG,s along with UA's.

CMA, CNA, Night Shift Supervisor

Dec 2014 - Feb 2015
Terrace of Kingwood
I worked in an assisted living 2 story building with an Alzheimer's unit and skilled unit. I worked as the night shift supervisor for a few months. As the supervisor I administered medications and managed the nurses aides, making sure the patients were taken care of and checked every two hours. I then transitioned to the day and afternoon shift where I worked as a CMA and CNA where I worked closely with nurses, Physicians, PA's, family members, and Physical therapists. I was in charge of administering medications on time, checking sugar levels, blood pressure, faxing and receiving orders from the PA's. I also was in charge of calling the pharmacies the patients used to order their refills etc.

CMA

Dec 2011 - Apr 2012
Regent Care Ctr
This was my first job working as a Medication Aide. My job duties entailed administering medications to residents on time. I had to pay close attention due to having some residents scheduled for dialysis and outings with family on certain days. I also had to take vital signs multiple times a day, depending on the resident and their Dr's orders. I was in charge of making sure the medication cart stayed clean and to never violate any state rules. I would also have to lock my medication cart in the med room to help my fellow caregivers with residents and their families. I would help feed the residents who were not able to feed themselves. I was in charge of the mars book for my particular med cart. I had to make sure I signed out every medication I gave, dispensed of, discontinued or expired. I had to know exactly who every resident was, make sure they knew what medications they were taking and what they were for, along with the dosage. I was one of two medication aides who floated all halls. The quick learning experience I gained immediately after becoming a CMA, I am grateful for.

CNA

Regent Care Ctr
This was my second job as a CNA and I loved it. I worked all shifts, but my core schedule was two PM to ten PM. At this Regent Care, I worked in the skilled unit, which was the main unit of the building. I also worked full time in the sub-acute unit. That unit was based on more of a hospital and recovery center. I would help those patients to and from the physical therapy room. Majority of the patients on that unit were coming there for recovery from the Hospital. I had to make sure their call buttons were close to them incase of a fall, needing to go to the restroom or anything they needed help with. I was in charge of taking and recording their vitals however many times and then record it however many times their Dr wanted. Or if the Nurses wanted to check due to certain activities that patient participated in during the day. I grew close to the wound care Nurse and she would teach me while letting me help her with deep wounds on some patients. Regent Care was a wonderful learning experience for me at that facility also.
