About Nancy

My family and friends say my strongest trait is being a caregiver. I recently took a survey and was given “caregiver” as my #1 personality trait. It’s no surprise to me because I’m a very giving, patient, honest, enthusiastic, nurturing, and loving soul. I’m at a point in my life where I can be more selective in my career path. I served in the Air Force honorably for 20.5 years; I say this because it speaks volumes about my trustworthiness, dependability, loyalty, reliability, and integrity. I was entrusted to manage millions of dollars in equipment, but by far the most important asset I cared for were the people. I have since retired from the military, and am following my passions as a writing and caregiver because I want to make a positive difference in the world one person at a time. Over the past 30+ years, I have befriended numerous people (usually seniors), and fulfilled the role of caregiver because I saw an unfulfilled need. What’s amazing is the happiness and fulfillment it gives me in return. I’m from a large family (my parents had 15 children, and now I have 70 nieces/nephews); and I love each every one of them dearly. My parents taught me to work hard, have fun, and be good to people. Rest assured, I will care for your loved ones just as I would my own family members. I understand what it takes as I cared for my parents and three brothers on an extended basis. Being a caregiver is one of my passions, and my goal is to exceed your expectations!

    Experience & Education

    Care for Family Members

    Nov 1999 - Nov 2015
This experience wasn't in a paid job.
I have performed caregiver duties for 5 of my family members over the past 16 years. I helped care for my brother Jeff for 16 years as he was diagnosed and treated for brain tumors and related issues. I also provided care for two of my other brothers, Stan and Howard during the last few years of their lives as they battled multiple illnesses. Finally, I was there for my parents each time they dealt with medical issues and during their last few months of their precious lives. My mom was diagnosed with amyloidosis, and my dad suffered from multiple illness that come with old age. What I learned is that each situation and person is unique. I handle every situation by learning all I can so I can be of the most help, as I provide care in a loving, dignified, empathetic, nurturing, and supportive manner.

    Volunteering

    Nov 1999 - Nov 2015
    This experience was volunteering
I have been helping perform caregiver duties for over 16 years. Although I never did it for a job, I did it to help others who needed it. I befriended and helped Lola for 16 years. This help included running errands, taking her grocery shopping or shopping for her, doing housekeeping chores, organizing bills and taking care of issues, organizing medicine, transportation to medical appointments, talking and providing an open line of communication so she felt loved and supported, and numerous other items. Everywhere I lived, I always got to know and helped my neighbors that were seniors. This is something I enjoy and it helped me fulfill a passion of helping others and making a positive impact in the world. I am willing to learn and enhance my skill set so I can exceed your expectations. I will provide exemplary care to your loved ones as I am patient, reliable, honest, enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate. You can relax knowing that your loved one is in great hands.
