I so enjoy helping Seniors--they are treasures! I am a 2X certified caregiver and recently re-certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED. I am kind, punctual, and not into phones or TV. While growing up in Alaska, I adored my grandmother, and in my twenties enjoyed visiting my older neighbors. I attended college for 3 1/2 years, and was a history major with Honors, with a minor in Literature, and with Biology, Anatomy, and Chemistry classes thrown in, as I was considering nursing . I have traveled a bit (on my last trip to Paris I rented an apartment--oh-la-la!), so I enjoy conversing on a wide range of topics. I've worked in public schools, where I ran a after-school program with 50 kids and 7 staff (I loved helping children) and later worked in the offices of two law firms, and for the Department of Defense, helping angry people resolve pay grade issues. Nothing makes me happier than when the Senior client I currently substitute for says, "you are so kind!" I tell her that no, she is. She's 93, sharp as a whip, and has gotten me into reading mystery novels with her and watching Judge Judy then laughing at all the silliness. For hobbies, I'm learning to paint watercolor. I also sing in a choir and play the flute. I was a homemaker for several years and enjoyed turning a house into a home for my children. I like keeping a house homey for a client as I think there is such value in that. I enjoy doing light housekeeping, cooking the foods they like, and full dressing, toileting, adult diapers, and bathing are no problem. As for night trips to the bathroom, having had light-sleeping kids, I don't mind that at all. I can also do a Senior appropriate exercise program, but I am unable to transport to appointments. I do need Sunday off, from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. To reach me, e-mail or texting my phone number is best. I'll e-mail, text or call back (your preference) within 24 hours. Thanks so much!
Caregivers that work non-full-time jobs or irregular shifts can negotiate extra compensation in addition to their standard hourly wage.
