Greetings! My name is Kara Thomas. I am a 29yr old Direct Support Professional originally from Anchorage, Alaska. I have been in this profession for 9 years. Throughout my journey I have experienced a lot. My love and compassion for the persons I serve are endless. I started off as a regular 9-5 worker assisting individuals with autism and soon graduated to a live in position at the age of 22 where i continued to hold that position until my relocation to San Antonio, Texas. During my time as a live in I learned to love and care for the individuals I supported as if they were my own family. My duties consisted of the regular activities of daily living that were expected of me, however; I enjoyed going above and beyond that. I didn't ever see my work as simply just work. To me it was my life and my individuals were my family. We all have one life to live and if I can make a difference in one persons life then to me that's living. Thank you for your time.
