About Deanna

My name is Deanna Richardson, and although I am only 20, I would like to consider myself as an experienced caregiver (although I know that there is much more to learn). I also consider myself as very hard working, reliable, trustworthy, and compassionate. Before getting my CNA certification in October of 2016, I cared for several family members in high school that had mental disorders, a stroke, and dementia. After receiving my CNA certification I went straight to work. I have worked home health, in a hospital, and hospice care. I am very passionate about caring for others; I truly believe that it is my "calling." I do not see being a CNA as a job, but as an opportunity to be there for someone during their time of need. As a CNA, I know that it is the little things that count. I enjoy being able to make my patients feel better whether it is from helping them get a bath or just being their for them through companionship.

Hospice Aid

Jun 2018 - Nov 2018
Kindred Hospice
When I worked for Kindred Hospice as a hospice aid, I visited various patients in their homes (6-8 patients per day) who were terminally ill. I mainly performed bed baths, assisted patients into their showers/tubs, assisted them with using the bathroom, changed "briefs", and light cleaning. I also received a $1 raise from this company before I left for maternity leave due to my hard work. I loved this job as well, and I worked all the way until November of 2018 due to my having my daughter. Instead of returning to work after my daughter was born, I decided to go back to school and pursue my RN degree.

Care Tech

Jan 2018 - May 2018
Springhill Medical Center
When I worked at Springhill Medical Center, I was a care tech on the Orthopedic Floor; I mainly worked with people who had broken bones, knee surgeries, etc. When I worked as a care tech, I cared for 11-22 patients at a time. I took patients' vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc.), performed bed baths as well as assisted them into the shower, removed IV's, checked blood sugars, monitored changes in patients (so I could report to the nurse), etc. I absolutely loved working as a care tech, but at the time I was unable to continue working night shift as I am married with two children. I decided to resign from Springhill and to find a job that would work with my children's daycare schedules.

CNA

Dec 2016 - Jan 2018
Accord Services
When I worked for the company "Accord Services", I cared for people who were hurt on their jobs. I went to their homes and cared for them during 12-hour shifts. With this job, I cared for people by performing bed baths, assisting them to the bathroom as well as to the shower, rotating them, cooking meals, cleaning, emptying catheter bags and changing colostomy bags, etc. I took much pride in this job and loved helping my patients. I received a 1$ raise before I worked two months for the company for my "outstanding work ethic." However, I decided to leave this job in January 2018 to work at Springhill Medical Center. I loved my current job, but I wanted more experience in the medical field.

I have been a caregiver for 3 family members. I currently live with my Dad in order to assist with his care. However, I would like a job outside my personal family as a caretaker for others. My experience is in cleaning (6 yrs exp.w/hospital background),cooking (15 yrs exp.w/ restaurant background), and maintaining multiple appointment schedules. Having worked as an assistant with a group home, I have guided others in daily life skills. My interaction with a variety of disabled patients, at the group home, prepared me to offer encouragement and support in any situation. I enjoy reading, music, and movies. My leisure time is spent with family , especially my children and grandchild.
