One achievement that I am proud of is that I've worked at doing care giving ever since the late nineties. I've been a caregiver since I was 19 and now I'm 44. I am specialize in All Heimers dementia Parkinson's I also deal with paraplegic patients adults I have also taken care of non-adults. My mom was ill for 12 months and I stayed with her every day in the hospital transferring from hospital to hospital and I wanted to do better for our elderly people because I seen the way they treated her and I didn't want someone else's mother or grandmother treated the same way. Giving our patients the companionship and not making them feel lonely. I am proud that I got my GED and it took me a long time but I went back to college and did a year of college to which I'm gonna go back and finish up my masters in cardiac echo grams.

I have 8 years of Geriatric Care in Nursing homes, Assisted living facilities and in home care. I enjoy helping others and will continue my education to become a nurse practitioner and be able to provide health care to various ages of life through my career.

Something I've always took pride in is how caring I am towards people. I have always been empathetic and really dive in to conversations with people too get to know them. I am compassionate. I have always been a team player but I also believe in being a leader. I've put a lot of thought into being a healthcare worker, because it is not an easy job. But I've also thought about how many people need help in being cared for. I love the job that I do. I believe the most personal achievement I am proud of is getting so close to my patients. I've connected with a lot of people. I remember I had a patient that I took care of for almost a year and I really connected with her. After some time she got really sick and was soon going to pass. I met her family and asked them if I could sing to her and they let me ( I sang to her a lot). Little did I know that they were not going to be able to have a service for her. When we were done singing and praising they all just cried and thanked me. They told me that they weren't going to be able to have service and it was as if God brought the service through me as a vessel. I believe that was my greatest accomplishment in this job.

I spent 3/4 days out of the week in the hospital, and I sincerely enjoyed it. I strive to be around my patients. My name is Alexis Vojvodich. I go by "Lexi". I took a job at Addus home care is what stole my heart and let me know that helping the elderly live a well life was my passion. I worked there for a year and i workd at Reflections Memory Care at the same time. I loved my clients/residents so much. I absolutely love getting to grow close and share my life with clients and I love that I get to help them live. Most elderly raised a family their selves, being a caregiver I feel like it is what they deserve, which is getting taken care of, just like they did their families. The achievement i am most proud of is getting the experience of helping with Addus and Reflections so that I will be able to care for the people that raised me to the best of my ability. The money isn't what draws me to this job, it is getting to show people that they are loved and getting to help.
