My name is Shawndell Rideau I've been in the medical field for about 15 years. I'm experienced in skilled nursing, homecare, special disabilities, hospice care, rehab, etc . I love what I do being able to care for other is passion and blessing to put a smile on their face. Since I was a little girl going to the nursing home with my school choir singing and dancing for the residents always made them happy . At 19 I went and got my C.N.A license and went from there pursing my passion . I went to school a couple years back and got my Medical Assistant Certification which im proud of and want to go back for my R.N.

Treating them like they are family, making sure they are cared for by someone that cares, I'm passionate. Always making sure they are good. The thing I enjoy most about caregiving is interacting, giving them what they need, talking to them & making them always feel at home.

I've been educated, consistently trained, & certified in the home & healthcare field since 2004. I've had schooling as a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, ACP caregiver & a level 1 medication aid, etc. I've worked in other job fields but realized my passion is to serve & take care of other. I believe I was directed into this profession because I watched my mother & grandmother take care of a lot of people so it's kind of apart of my DNA. I enjoy this work because I believe this is my gift & I love to make people feel good about life through the ups & downs we face daily. One personal achievement that I'm proud of is starting my own business to take care of people in need.

What make me a caregiver is Patience. When you work with someone who needs home care it is important that you are patient and understanding. It helps to sometimes put myself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. Why did I become a caregiver? Is because I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I love being a caregiver to help other people who really need it. I want to be able to care for them the way I want to be cared for if I should need the care some day. I love helping others in need. An achievement that I'm particularly proud of is how I developed my public speaking skills. I recognised that I needed to be more confident when speaking at team meetings so I could contribute to discussions of issues as well as put ideas clearly. I recognised I held fears about speaking up and if I was to deal with them I would have to commit to a program of personal development.
