What makes me a great caregiver? Excellent question. I am very very respectful, even if an elderly person is becoming frail and/or senile, it's important to remember that they are a person with a lot of experience, and a person who was once able to stand on their own two feet. I am also very empathetic; Ageing can be a confusing and difficult process for some older people, as tasks they used to find simple become a challenge that needs to be overcome. I am also very very reliable. What attracted me to being a caregiver? I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. I doing work that has the potential to make a difference in someone's life. I like doing a variety of tasks in a day. I don't ever say, "that's not my job" but instead like pitching in to do whatever is needed. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I take pride in your attention to detail. I don't want a desk job; you like being physical in your job and using your body as well as your brain. I am seeking a career with growing opportunities. I don't want to invest in many years of formal education but you are willing to learn new skills and take continuing education to do your job well. I feel that when you are older, I'd want someone like myself there to help me if I need help. What do I enjoy most about being a caregiver? I think just meeting peoples' needs. Sometimes it's not a glamorous job but you leave and the people feel like they have been treated with dignity. Their needs are met, they're comfortable or as comfortable as you can help them become. It's a very important thing for me. Not that it has to be glamorous, but just their smiles. It's just a very rewarding thing.

I have been a caregiver for a few years now. In those few years, i have learned valuable lessons that will stay with me forever. Lessons taught by other staff or a patient. They can't teach you everything in a classroom, you have to learn somethings hands on, and those are the lessons I will never forget. Being a caregiver has taught me how to put others needs before my own, it has taught me gratitude and selflessness. Being a caregiver isn't about just doing your job, it's about compassion. I treat all of my clients as if they are family, because in reality they will become a second family.

Understanding many do not think they need help for the reasoning of they have taken care of themselves for many years. I am able to let them know I am just to help with little assets. I know there are many who need full care. I here to help in away I can to make there day go as smoothly as I can. I helping others. My heart is huge when it come to love others, so if that means just to sit down and listen, needed a hug I am there. When growing up my mother was also babysitting children. So this being said I have also been around different age groups. I grow the love of being a caregiver at a young age. In which I walked into a nursing home and found my love there. There are way to many things to list what I enjoy being a caregiver. One of them is the understand family has busy life schedules and can't be right there every minute so they reach out for help.
