Being a mother, I have learned several traits that has allowed me to be great as a caregiver. These traits include patience, compassion, the ability to listen and understand others as well as being able to aid with problem solving. I am interested in being a caregiver because I enjoy being in the company of elderly people. They always have a lot of knowledge to impart on me. As a result, I learn a lot from them. I enjoy being able to help others, learning from them and becoming a friend. One personal achievement I am proud of is being able to go to school and earn my degree. Due to my going to school, I was able to learn more about Alzheimer's Disease and obtain a certificate for completing the class. Finally, I was able to graduate with my Associate's Degree in Medical Assistant.

I enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of the persons I serve. I understand what is needed too be a excellent caregiver too the persons I serve. I have 25 years experience working in Home Care and also Directed Care in group home setting. I recognize the need for discretion, tact, patience and good judgement. I'm committed too go above and beyond too deliver the outstanding quality of care that is deserved.

I am very compassionate I'm helping other who are in need of help. I love providing companionship and putting smiles on my clients faces. I know sometimes we all just need a friend we can sit down and just laugh and talk with.

In my current position of individual caregiver to a quadriplegic patient I assist my client with daily living activities such as getting out of bed toileting showering getting dressed and other duties as needed. I am able to physically handle the work load and I also have a caring bedside manner and good interpersonal skills. My organizational skills allow me to complete all tasks in a timely manner and to be able to devote time to helping with other household duties such as cleaning laundry and dishes. I spent some time caring for elderly women while in High School. It was during this time that I realized my passion for helping others. I thought that psychology would be the correct path for me, however I did not feel the same gratification as when I was helping those who could no longer care for themselves. Sixteen years ago, a friend of mine (that was a Certified Nurses Aide), recommended I might find the same fulfillment as she did in that field. I applied for hands on training at Briarcliff Pavilion where I learned the basics of becoming a Certified Caregiver. Since that time I have strived to help people fulfill their quality of life and provide support to their family and friends.
